Under C:\Documents and Settings, there are two administrator accounts:
administrator and Administrator.DEFAULT. (along with the All Users and
normal user accounts)

Is this normal for Windows XP ?

TIA

No. not at all. I would be suspicious if I was youse. Are you the only one
who uses the computer? And tell us about the security (or lack of) that you
have placed...

To err is human, but to really foul things up, you need a computer.

Tim,

Thanks for the input.

I am the main user. My daughter uses it occasionally - she mainly uses
her own laptop.

I have Zone Alarm Pro installed, and use AVG for virus protection.

This is not unusual.
If windows loses access to your profile it creates a new one
As yours exists, it appends the computername to it.
If that already exists it appends .000, .001, .002............
eg
mark
mark.computername
mark.computername.000
mark.computername.001

Why? The profile was corrupted. Power Failure, abnormal shutdown..........

To determine what profiles are being used by your installation, check the
AllUserProfile and DefaultUserProfile values in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

Can also happen when an 'over the top' installation is done as opposed to a
repair installation.

Thanks for the info.

I did manage to delete the "administrator" account (which had almost nothing
in it), rename the "Administrator.DEFAULT" acct to "Administrator" by
deleting .DEFAULT off the registry key.

Thanks for all the help.
