save that top pic ,it will be our fanboy of the day award.I think captain robert april can photoshop "I am a fanboy" on it,or whatever.
Too bad i uploaded them in the wrong size.. They're distorted... Dammit. :x Yes, CRA is pretty good with Photoshop, and we both have a similar sense of haha. I just limit what i say in here, where he doesn't as much.

The guy can say no wrong in my opinion  even when he slams me its funny and true.more power to him.Agreed...He can definetely lighten the mood in a thread. 😀 He's got the gift of gab(is well spoken when he needs), and has an abundance of humor. He can also take it, as well as give(a very good and rare trait).

Dewd, for the President and CEO of AMD that's the least I can do. However, do you think I'd get a chance to redesign the AMD logo? Green is so passe! This year mauve and taupe are hot.

Come on, Tanker! Baron will tell us to get a room!

Thanks, dude! Props right back at ya! Considering that you're a Molson-swilling, sealblubber-breath, socialized-med, igloo-dwelling, frozen-ba!!ed Canuck, you aint bad!

do you have any idea how embarrassing it is to be appeciating someone behind their back and have them walk in on you?

its almost like gay or something

anyway the gamers logo will me a huge metal skull with the amd logo on each tooth and various other parts of the skull in its open mouth cage inside big sharp teeth will be the ati logo.the head shape could be a large cat or a gator or dinosaur or a snake.like a whole metal snake twisted around large emerald amd letters with an open mouth and the ati logo somewhere like maybe the snake is a cobra and the ati logo is on its chest.

That's ok. It's not like we're both nibbling on the same Snickers bar or anything...

Hey, guys, you're givin' me a swelled head. And no, the big head, not the little one. What were we saying about gay?

I love your AMD logo idea, but would it look good in mauve and taupe?

as long as it looks like polished metal it could be bile colored.try mauve
a mauve metal snake wrapped around emerald amd letters.like real looking emerald .

   I got a sewing needle for that swelling.

I'll get the art department on it right away, Mr. Dewd. Anything you say, Mr. Dewd. Yes, Mr. Dewd, I'll pull my nose out of your a$$ and let you sit, sir.

As for the sewing needle line, I can't come up with any retort that doesn't sound like it came from Richard Simmons and would get me in big trouble with THGL (Tom's Hardware Gay & Lesbians)

You might wanna read what the Fool has to say on the subject. First there is a jaw-dropping chart showing AMD's cash hemorrhage, then some really interesting quotes:

AMD appears to have covered just 38% of its capital needs with cash flow.

Then there's the debt. With $3.8 billion now on the books, AMD is going to need cash flow to cover its interest payments. So far there isn't any, which makes one of two outcomes very likely:

1. AMD dramatically cuts back its capex in the coming quarters, or
2. AMD appeals to investors via a secondary offering, causing dilution for shareholders who are waiting patiently to realize hoped-for gains from the ATI deal.

And having said all that, he concludes with:

But it may be the best tech stock of the year.

He might think it's undervalued, but I see that only if it gets swallowed and cut up. Which may be what The Street is thinking...

8O 8O
1.no one kisses my azz, everyone tells wher the bear crapped in the woods.

   they have a thgl?   i guess i just wasnt aware of it.oh wait 8O 8O 8O its the dam fanboys 😛 I knew some thing was wrong with them fellas, get that annoying hairspray vibe when they go off.

I can't reply to that, as I'm probably on THGL's hit list already. I'd better do something to keep from being banned.

"The Bush administration renewed its call for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. So I guess they feel the only time that guys should be on top of each other naked is in an Iraqi prison." —Jay Leno

There! See!

Think edram and think it hard.

Told ya, Dewd. Gotta lay off the gay jokes!

I agree fully that if AMD is able to come out with something, anything, that seriously challenges Intel, whether on the high or even the mid-end, it could be great news for the stock. It's just that I'm not seeing anything in any published roadmaps that makes me think that a market-dominating product is due from AMD in the next 4 Qs.

  twisted bandage

well thats the beauty of guessing where things are at by way of circumstance. They claim a performance threshold on k10 that prior design could not deliver.

Edram is supposed to boost a cpu incredibly, easilly within the target range of their claims.Late chips are bieng talked about having benches like barcelona, who was said to have come to the party ,yet no one saw her.

why would that be?maybe shes not got her new boobs from dr edram yet.
maybe edram is the perf boost for k10 along with sse4a.we all know that c2d is mostly a fast cache machine ,so maybe amd is now too.

barcelona could kick some serious tookas this year.

Sure, if you can incorporate eDRAM and triple the memory with 2 ns read times and much shorter run lengths, and get that into K10's first iteration, that could definitely allow for the performance numbers being bandied around. But given that the paper was just released a couple of days ago, I'm not so sure that they will be able to cram this into the chip in time for a debut in this calendar year. As you said, Barcy is either the invisible girl or she really hasn't shown up at the party yet, and I can assure you that Intel isn't sitting on its thumb while all this DRAM is being embedded. But as I've said many times, I'd be the happiest perv around if I could get two Barcy's into a QFX this year. I'd even formally dedicate it to Baron! 😀

It sure looks bad when you look at the AMD stock graph, covering the last year, AMD stock graph but if you make the chart cover 2 years you'll see that the stock is at the same level as in may 05 and if it covers 5 years it is obvius that the current level isn't so bad. It's just not as good as the last 1½ year, where AMD was on top.

Why Toms Hardware hasn't cleaned up these forums is beyond me. All these flame wars and immature battles going on just make them look bad. It really ruins the credibility of what advice and knowledge is shared here. This thread shows that things are more than a litte out of hand.

But to add to the topic. Keep in mind this is just a market "rumor." Who knows if its true or not. What I can say is I'm sure there are a lot of potential investors that would like to invest in a great company like AMD. Whether the right group of investors, with the right situation show up, is another story all together.

My guess is the loudest one's are usually the youngest ones.

You may be amazed to discover that BM is actually 42. I know, I know...hard to belive, but true. Although, I could be mistaken. I believe he just had a birthday recently so he might be 43 now. I know this because he started a thread wishing himself a happy b-day.

So, not only is he the best c# programmer he knows, he's also his best friend that he knows.

A 42 year old posts that demented infantile crap???

I'm stunned ... 8O

I have a feeling we may see some cool  crap 🙁 before its all said and done. :?: :!:

Sorry, your post seemed to be missing something Vern

Baron, it is not simply 'who is qualified' to determine if something is infantile or demented --- it is really simply just plain obvious.

But you keep us entertained.

Baron does so much more than that. He is single handedly responsible for more first time users creating logins, more hostile posts, higher hit numbers for the site, longer pointless threads etc etc etc. While his words demonstrate lack of intellectual capacity and lack of social ability, the results of his words could easily indictate is is a schill, for any of AMD, Intel or THG.

After almost 14 months of being caught in his own mistakes and relentlessly proven wrong, abused by the vast majority of users and generally disdained by everyone, you would figure he would have went away. That he hasnt leaves one wondering as to whether he's being paid to be here or he has some extreme personality or intelectual disorder.

I've always pictured AMD as not for sale, especially these days now that they're extremely competitive with Intel in just about everything and their future is looking as bright as ever.

Which is why their stock price is in the shiitter just before they launch Barcelona

Hint: Stocks are priced 6-18 months ahead ... investors dont think much of AMDs outlook until at least end 2008.

Investors don't know as much as they think they do. AMD is / will remain to be competitive.

Hint: Tech market stocks are particularly volatile.

yeah, you basically got it right. But in finer detail: some big instituional investors don't have the fine gradation of understanding that some of us do, of course. Everyone thinks a little differently after all. They also have to balance their own diversity and risk/reward. For instance, the big institutional seller that unloaded about 10% of all of AMD's outstanding stock recently went from 15% to 5% roughly. That's a huge amount of selling, and explains why AMD is near $15 instead of near $17-$19, IMO. Of course there is the interesting fact that the huge selling also implys huge buying.

[

This is indeed true --- investors/financial analysts typcially see $, bottom lines, cash flow, balance sheets --- they live in the now and postulate the future based on the money numbers. They are not looking for, nor accounting for any impact Barcelona will have.

Before AMD's financial fortunes turn around from this recent dip -- it will take a strong barcelona presence on the market for a quarter or 2 to begin showing benefits in the balance sheet, then the stock will recover.

Same thing happens evertime --- in the tech community, enthusiast circles C2D was clearly superior in performance but the financial community evidently does not read Tom's or Anand or Xbit because they kept a weak perspective --- tones like 'Intel just released a new architectur it hopes will close the gap'.... I laughed.

AMD will see the same 'lag' to accept Barcelona as a fortune/money maker in the eyes of the financial community.

Entirely right IMO. It's harder to predict the future, but some of that is likely to play out just that way. The unknowns include how many market participants will have seen this pattern, and also all the big factors, like the economy, PC demand, Paul O.'s need for a certain % market share, etc.

fortunately I didn't read thru those! I just responded to the first interesting post I hadn't (way back on page 2 I guess).

even better would be someone that would just patrol and *delete* (!) the flames, *and*....add a mark against the flamer, so that after 4 marks or so, the flamer himself could be restricted.

Wasn't it expected that AMD would have a negative cash flow over a period that involved buying another company???

Oh, and Baron, my 6700 can calculate Pi faster than any AMD processor you own. It can do it while consuming less power and emmitting less heat. It also cost less than any AMD processor you own.

Now I'll post some Emoticons for Vern-
8O 😀 8) 😳     8O :) 😱

Yeah.... the 550 million one time charge kinda does that.... so the large loss AMD posted for Q4 was expected --- however, AMD's Q3 cash flow was negative as well, without any acqusition charges they were already headed for red territory --- Q1 will be the same but worse most likely. This is why they also posted a true loss excluding the Acquisition charges... and the ATI unit did not help the ATI unit lost money in Q4.

ATI typically had margins between 30 and 40%, so those were also expected to drag down the GPM. AMD sold the idea of the acquisition to investors based on the fact that they would get GPM up to the 50% level, they ran numbers that showed a healthy profitable company at 50% GPM and that is what the stakeholders voted on.....

In my opinion, they will not have much time before the investors start getting itchy.... :)

Well, I think investors got itchy a ways back! Now most of the stockholders are just betting on future products, and the eventual end of the "price war", IMO.

If the R600 and Barcelona are good successes, instead of also-rans, then there'd be good cause to believe in AMD long run (that is, AMD as it exists now).

When active moderation is performed, people bitch. When you depend on people to use the report button, lots of people shirk their duty. You lose either way.

Well, and no single idea about stock prices is ever absolute, but the reason Intel dropped back down near $20 in Dec was suppose to be because of their margin getting lower (from 60s to low 50s), according to a popular opinion back then.

I told you if any aliens or any higher intellects come here, I don't want to be associated with you. That would be embarrassing. I do what I do to maintain at least a little bit of unbiased commentary. You only get mad cause I keep turning out to be right.
