But Intel asked for this war with those crazed Core 2 prices. Hopefully it won't backfire.

Actually, the statement that this is a price war that Intel started is a bit misleading. Typically the primary characterisic of a price war is when a company lowers product prices across the board to undercut competition. Intel has not done this. If you look at where their prices were for consumer products over the last few years they've been pretty consitent...enthusiast CPUs for $1,000-$1,200 all the way down to the inexpensive entry level CPUs. It just so happens that Intel has LOTs of price flexibility with their entry level CPUs these days because they can afford to lower prices for older more mature processes/CPUs.

From AMDs perspecitive, yes it's a price war because they have to drastically reduce their prices across the board to bring their value proposition in line with Intel counterparts.

How do you knwo what my thoughts were?

Simple. Even though you attempt to hide your true thoughts, you deceive yourself by exposing them in your very next post.

Combining Intel's isolationist policies and the creepy people who seem to be in the Brood, I personally won't buy an Intel chip.

See what I mean. It's not hard to get the truth out of you...just push a few buttons and voila. So don't try to fool us with your "I don't care what CPU is in the PC" kaakaa, cause we're a bit more savvy then you are used to encountering apparently.

Aaaah, but before I came here I never cared and had systems with both. After being arond The Brood, I can't associate myself with Intel anymore. At least not by buying their chips.
Besides, I say that all the time so you don't have to "push any buttons."

I am curious though if any of you make more than $100K/year.

Baron,

You are basically being a Goof right now.

Everything including Intel predictions about pricing/capabilities/features/performance is just speculation.

In fact ANYONE in just about ANY industry that believes what they hear is a fool.

If Intel said they had a K8L killer in the works I would listen but not speculate. If AMD states they have a C2Q killer I would listen but not speculate. I will however take in as much info as possible (pre and post release) and draw my own conclusions. There has to be a trend that emerges somewhere... While making sure to throw out the outliers (this is you Baron). Somewhere in the DATA is the truth.

I am not sure it is in the words that you say.

BUT

That remains to be seen right?

You can call me part of the brood if you wish... I will be in good company with most that you also say are in this club.. I however will purchase any processor that provides me the best performance for my money. That is why I have waited to purchase even now since I am waiting for AMDs release to get some REAL numbers and NOT Barons numbers...

PS...

I have finally figured out why you got the name BaronBS..

BS = Barron Speculation (yeah thats got to be it)....

So far this year AMD has licensed GPUs for handhelds, Turion for embedded, sold 200mm equipment, will sell more, introduced a new Home platform and a new mobo standard, etc.

What more do you want Wall Street?

Stop messing around and experimenting, and focus on core profitable business. Too many fingers in too many pies, and suddenly you can't eat. That's what they want.

AMD will be paying more for all those loans they took out soon. If their capitalisation falls any lower, it will be downgraded and the payments will rise whilst the value of the bonds falls lower.

Of course, this is not good for the industry as a whole. Nvidia's large profit announcement this week must have stung even more.

So they should have bought ATi and dumped all f those businesses? Right. WHat do you mean, "all those loans?" I only know of one $2.5B loan. And corporate loans don't work the way personal loans work.

Those handheld chips are just GPUs. If they hadn't released reference platforms you would have said they should have.

Like I said, no wonder the rich get richer.

I didn't say AMD said anything about C2D-killers. I said if Barcelona IS 80% faster, the bottom will fall out from under Core 2 pricing as AMD will price higher to keep the Core 2 prices down and raise their margins back up.

It's not a question of believing what I hear since I believed Intel last year and they were't lying. What's the difference now?

As far as that silly nickname it came from a stalker named gDODO. He did it because I am not backing down. Especially not to anonymous idiots on a public forum.

You read what you want and convince others that you know what I was saying, but that's like a retarded kid explaining Differential Equations when he never took it.

All fools stick together which is why I stand alone. I'm no fool.

Nah, it's just Baron Bullshit, no euphemism required.

Wow, yet another member of the Brood. So how does it feel to be a symbiotic organism?

Pretty cool, huhn?

Baron, you're not very good at this, are you?

And corporate loans don't work the way personal loans work.

Oh? How so? Are they not required to pay their corporate loans off or something?

If I posted links you'd read around them. I've got an idea. Try Google. I hear it helps even if you can't spell very well.

That's convenient...not even the slighest attempt to support your statements. You're a sharp one.

Good at what? Being a cog in a broken wheel? I hope I'm not. You just showed by replying to this post that you are a symbiote. Why are you worried about my reply to someone else? Are you trying to get a bath house partner for the weekend?

Baron,

You are throwing speculation and nothing more...

Until even ESs are circulated and some real numbers start to come about it is nothing more than speculation.

And to say you believed Intel at any point... Uuuuuuuuuhhhhhh Huuuuuuuuuuuhhhhh!!

Brood (his term not mine): Baron why are you standing in the road?
Baron: Because all the cars are going to be going though where you guys are standing.
Brood: But we are well off the road in the middle of a corn field and you are in the middle of the road!
Baron: You watch they will go through the field you must be a lemming or part of the brood to think that the cars will go here!!

HHHHOOOOOOONNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!

Edited for Baron to understand better!!

By the way Baron,

Enron booked "Future Sales" and that is what got them into a little bit of hot water...

But I may be wrong... :)

I didn't say they record these future orders, but that they are contractually GUARANTEED so a bank KNOWS the company will be making money.

It actually costs an OEM money to cancel orders. The same way you can't cancel airline tickets, etc without paying a charge.

No wonder America is at the bottom of the world intellectually. Most of us depend on other people's skills and abilities. Try getting your own.

Once again, perfect example...you're still no good at this. Hey, what happened to your "who makes over 100k" question. Pretty funny you got shut down by the first person you asked this question to. I suspect there are plenty of others here in a similar position...or soon will be. You will likely struggle for the rest of your life, becuase you are your worst enemy. I wish you luck though. Maturity comes at different points in peoples lives.

Heh, the problem is resorting to irrelevant, beaten-horse topics and childish tactics whenever anyone says anything about Intel having the current performance crown. You spout out accusations of Intel fan boyism and non sequiturs. Someone comments on Core 2s spanking K8 and you pull things out of your old sack and start talking about socket changes? As if that has anything to do with Core 2 performance.

Sure better chipset compatibilty is good, but performance crown... no.

Then the huffing and irrational blabbering begin, a huge array of tenuosly relelated AMD defenses.

But I don't mind. Adds drama 😀

So what you are saying is that AMD can take a write down for future proposed profits?

AND

Dell entered into a fixed price contract with a specified amount of procs being purchased over time? Regardless if they sell or not?

Hmmmm.....

Hark, what's that I hear? Could it be the clanging of the key in the LOCK?

inflammatory remarks render all trollers.

I seperate what baron says,I have a very unique sieve called a bs sieve, generally if its not the exact statement that has value on occaision its the spirit of what is said,I could strain up to 80 of good info from waht baron says, but here im batting around 20-40%.

Most importantlly AMD could use all the pro talk it can get.Their actions have made fanboyism required as of late.

The 5 day chart shows stock climbing, kids; So we need to stick with facts in our assessment.

AMD spent too much time, money and energy ,focusing on things other than core revenue developements;Pray to god and moore that k10 has edram.Something ,anything even a souped up piece of miracle bubble gum.

True, that!

Hey Vern,

Buyout rumors almost (I say almost because on rare occasion it does NOT happen) always result in a short term bump in pricing.

In fact it is almost always 😉 good to be in early during these types of things.

Again I reference MCI/MCI_Worldcom/Worldcom/MCI Again...

Since late 1999 there have been several rumored buyouts of the above. Typically resulting in a short term raise in the stock prices.

What is funny is that even on rumors of a buyout from a REALLY BAD MATCHUP the prices still climb...

Gotta love the market...

Whatever! Why wouldn't I have believed Intel? As far as your stupid road analogy, I'm not sure I know what you mean. I don't care about either company that much. I just end up defending AMD because of the obvious double standard.
