Advanced motherboard

well i'd like to mention that a motherboard isn't a perepheral. you should have posted in motherboards & memory>motherboards.

that said: there isn't a motherboard out there that could be considered the best in all situations. which motherboard you pick is determined by:

budget.
size (atx usually)
slots needed.
maximum memory needed.
cpu socket type
onboard video? yes/no
onboard sound? yes/no
port types (# of sata & type of sata, etc)
bios, chipset, etc.

then come into play things like aesthetics...

do you want a certain color?
do you have parts that make a certain arrangement better than others?
do you want fancy features such as touch start? (for diagnostics, troubleshooting)

---------------

as you can see with all the options available finding a perfect motherboard takes a little bit of research on your part. staying with big brands like asus, gigabytle, dfi, etc. instead of no-name knockoffs is recommended.

if you just want me to throw a good board name out there then:

for an intel i7 processor: the asus rampage III extreme irog edition. more features than you can shake a stick at. it also carries a premium price tag though so be warned. i use this model myself and it has been flawless.

Yeah, the Asus Rampage III Extreme is a pretty good motherboard as long as you are going to build your system around an Intel i7 LGA 1366 CPU.

And if you don't mind spending around $375 - $400 on the motherboard alone.

You need to be more specific about what you want.
