Question Advanced Optimus vs dGPU

Hi I have a question.

just bought the NEW Legion 5i Pro 16

i7 12700H
RTX 3070ti
1TB SSD
16GB DDR5 RAM

And I have noticed that Advanced Optimus can cause this annoying freezing when switching from integrated graphics to the dGPU …. I have read that this is a thing.

So I have now switched to dGPU via the Legion software — and I run the laptop in this mode all the time. It fixes the problem.
I also really use the laptop plugged in as a desktop replacement to play games. And some light web browsing.

My question?

Is it bad to use it in dGPU mode all the time?

Will it burn out the laptop or something??

No it won't hurt your laptop. The only thing I would recommend is, if you have the option to control cooling fans on the gpu and cpu , use a little more aggressive cooling to keep temps down inside your laptop.

If any DX9 application is running and a display switch is triggered using the NV Control Panel 'display mode' settings page, the DX9 app could crash or freeze.

that probably isn't it.

If its a new PC, you shouldn't be having any problems so I would be tempted to contact HP about it.

I guessed who made it wrong, I should have looked. I thought I was right. Advice still applies, if its new it shouldn't have any problems like that.

No you shouldn't have any problems using the dgpu all the time but I would contact Lenovo about this problem.
