i'm still undecided, if i should go with fx 5900 and if i get a 2.8cghz p4 which is 100$ cheaper(could i over clock it to 3.0 with this configuration). I also wondered if that ram would be best for the system i'm building. thx.

your current setup looks fine...the 5900 wont perform as well as the 9800 pro...the 5900ultra...thats about a draw...

Ram looks good. Unless you want to go with PC 3500. How much does Mobo cost? IS7 from Abit $109.

IMO buy Sapphire 9800 PRO 128MB DDR. From what I've been reading it's the best.

it's 160 for the mobo, but the bench ratings are really outstanding.
and i'm wondering if i get a 2.8cghz how much can i overclock it safely, without risking the life of the chip.

Buy Zalman CNPS7000 AL/CU HSF since you are OCing. My guess 3.5 maybe more. Not sure.

ATI buy Sapphire 9800 PRO 128MB DDR if you have the money.

I have the sapphire and it is nice, though I found it will overheat if you don't have good airflow (though that case does so it won't be a problem). I read somewhere that the important parts of the built by ati and sapphire cards come out of the same factory. True or not you can't go wrong either way. I also like the software bundle that comes with the sapphire card.
