Advice on Video card for new pc

So I'm going to be building a new pc in april and I need to know if I should buy a 7900GS now or wait for the 8600. I also need to know if I get the 8600 will it run on XP Pro with DX9? Or will I need to get Vista and DX10 for the 8600 to work.

yes it will, all dx10 card are backwards, that is dx9, compatible. As to getting 7900GS now or waiting for the 8600 is kind of up to you, I mean it depends on your budget and use of the pc.

I'd wait for the 8600, there will be something like 3 different flavors of it, so I i just bought a 7600GT for now because it was only like $100.

The 8600 will work fine on XP, just won't run DX10 on XP.

The 8800 GTS 320MB costs only a little bit more than 8600, so its the best choice. The 7900 is old hardware.
