Question AFTER installing windows 10, monitor has stopped displaying BIOS

Hey! Got my first build running last week. Everything went snazzy, and I got access to bios. After seeing that my pc boots to bios, I installed win10 from an USB-stick.​

Now, after updating drivers and windows updates, I wanted to go back into bios, and update my ram speed from the default 4600 to what it really is, 5600.

However, now when I try to boot into BIOS (be it with spamming delete on startup, or holding shift when restarting and choosing UEFI from there), it simply boots to a black screen. The monitor isn't off however, it's still emanating light, but it's still black. I've turned off fast-boot.

I'm quite sure, that this is a display issue. During the bios screen, if I press f10 + enter, the screen turns off momentarily and then normally loads windows. F10 is the save & exit button in bios, which leads to my conclusion that BIOS is booting, just not displaying on my monitor.

I do have a bios update I could update to. I'm just scared to do it, if it tries booting into BIOS, and I'd be forced to shut off the pc mid update. I've heard that can brick your mobo

Any help would be appreciated. It's not super urgent, and my pc runs well, but it could run better.

your motherboard has a Q-Flash BIOS button on the rear of the motherboard. In the event that you do have things go sideways, you should be able to reflash the BIOS through that very button/procedure.

As for your display, what is the model to your monitor? You might want to see if you can hook your monitor up to your motherboard's display output ports, then try and reboot the system if you fail to see anything after the port swap.

Verify that I found the applicable User Manual.

First read/review the entire manual to double check that all installed components are both supported and properly configured.

Take a close look at physically numbered Page 13, Section 2-4.

Was the first installed RAM placed in DDR5_A2 per the 4th Warning bullet?

Also read/review Chapter 3 - BIOS Setup.

You may need to reset all and start over.

That is my mobo.

As for flashing, I'd like to avoid that as long as I can. Building the PC and getting it running was a pretty stressful procedure, and I wouldn't enjoy redoing it all, especially now that the PC runs.

I can try hooking my monitor up to the motherboard directly, but I thought that was redundant, since I won't get a display with a gpu? (CPU has no iGPU)

1. Yes that's the motherboard, and yes that's the manual I used, to build the pc with.
2. All components should be supported.
3. First installed RAM was placed in DDR5_A2
4. Since I have no bigger problems besides RAM speed and some possible settings I'd like to change, I'll avoid resetting as long as I can.

SOLVED! Switching HDMI input from GPU to the one in the MOBO displayed BIOS. It also displayed windows, which makes everything I said in my earlier reply wrong. Thank you!

I've now happily enabled EXPO and have my monitor back to being hooked up to GPU

Just an FYI, you can disable iGPU in BIOS so you don't consume system ram and the BIOS should show up off the discrete GPU from then on. If you want to reenable iGPU but can't access BIOS, just clear the CMOS.

Interesting. I need to look at this. My asus b650 tuf gaming plus WiFi board acts this way, except mine boots directly to windows unless I’m plugged into the display on the board.
