Hi guys..Ive been searching all over internet for this but no specific answer..If you guys know please tell me..The question is..What kind of air compressor can i use to clean my pc?I know there is canned air and DataVac...Why would I spend money for air lol?JK..Just want to know if there is another way to clean the pc..Maybe Car Tire Compressor??Bicycle Tire pump? Can it be used? Thanks

Solution
Bike pump or car tire compressor does not have the continued volume to do the job properly. They rely on a little tiny bit, dozens/hundreds of times.

$30 at Sears. Get an attachable air gun/nozzle to go with it. Cheaper than canned air in the long run and you can pump up a flat tire and blow out your refrigerator compressor to boot!

Do you mean i takes alot of time and effort to use bike pump? But if it takes alot of time is it safe?

Generally a shop compressor with a tank on it is the kind of compressor you'd use. If you know someone with a wood or machine shop, or you own a compressor you can use that. A bicycle pump dosen't really have enough pressure and would be a lot of work. "Canned air" products do not actually contain air, they contain diflouroethane, which boils into a gas at room temperature similar to how propane is a liquid while inside it's tank but a gas in the hose. Yeah, gas dusters / canned air are a bit expensive in some stores, but they do work very well and last a decent amount of time. You can maybe expect about 3 cleaning sessions of a few minutes each per can if you have a lot of dust to blast out. A vacuum cleaner with the small cleaning attachment or a handheld vacuum is another option, but you have to make sure you don't accidentally pull anything off (small cables, jumpers, etc) with that. I use either.

It would take a lot of time, and 3 hands. 2 to pump, 1 to hold the hose.
And it would NOT give the results you seek.

Have you ever used a bike pump?

Like USAFRet said, you need powerful very defined focus points of air. Best bet is a small portable air pump like the OP linked from Sears. But you have to think of it air blowing like a hose that is open on the end vs. one that has a compressed s[pray nozzle attached to the end of it. They both move the same amount of water at the same time, but which one do you think would do the better job of spraying off bugs on the front of your car? Think about that from an air spray perspective.

Ohh..Thats why the canned thing is so expensive..I would rather buy a pack of Lays than the can thing if it was just air..Okay ill find something later..Thank you

Havent use it yet..I was worried if it is risky so I ask first.

It would be the one with nozzle because it focus the target on 1 point..Ok I understand thank you

I meant to pump up a bike tire. If you had, you'd know how little it puts out per stroke.

Im afraid that does not exist in my country..Im not living in US

Oh ya its so little..Doesnt make much difference with one push..Need to push alot of time..A canned air compressor is like single core of I7 and a bike pump is multi-core cheap cpu..

real men should own one compressor. maybe your neighbour owns one and you can use it? just need the nozzle for it. i've used my small 2gal one to blow out the main dust (i actually don't recommend it - it flies EVERYWHERE and makes a mess).

i'd use a vacuum cleaner (carefully) to get most of the big dust off
then i would typically wash the parts and dry them in an oven

yes, i'm serious. i've run a few motherboards like that - remove battery, wash under running water, use a brush, then bake in oven at lowest temp for 8hrs.

Not for squeamish !!!

certainly not, though i know it works fine. i did the first test on a mobo i didn't care about. main caution notes are to remove the battery, be careful around the CPU socket (especially modern Intel), use a soft brush. the typical AMD and older Intel sockets are quite safe and easy since no pins are exposed unlike modern LGA____ stuff.
