The old system here cannot match some of the new hardware that's 6x
faster but there are TIPS that can be passed along. This one might be
of use to Simmers:
Aircraft Hanger DIR
Whenever FS starts.. it parses through the \Aircraft folder to build a
list of available planes for the menu. To speed this process many of
the installed (and seldom used) aircraft can be move to a folder
<DIR> Aircraft Hanger. The Sim will start faster.
Furthermore.. many of the folders in <DIR> Aircraft Hanger can be
zipped 70% - 90% in size making 90MB of files into 9MB for instance.
So.. went to zip 121 folders in <dir> A.H. and could only get about 20
done. It takes time to ADD and then run TEST for valid zip!! You can
easily unzip the packages to run aircraft in Sim. If editing is done..
then `add and update' archive.
