I hear a lot of good things about the standard X1800XL and how well it overclocks, was just wondering if anyone on these forums had experience overclocking the AIW version of the card?

As far as I know the stock core and memory is the same at 500/500, however I wasn't able to find any overclocking info on the AIW version.

So if anyone here knows whether it overclocks the same (depends on luck of the draw) or if the AIW definatly overclocks worse than the standard version, please let me know.

A stab in the dark here:

But I believe the X1800XL AIW is a fully fledged X1800XL, which means it is identical - except maybe the memory chips in terms of ns - so I guess that depending on how good your silicon is on any card for that matter, the AIW should OC the same as a plain XL.

I know that the X1900 AIW is a cut down version with lower clocks than a XT (would've been nice if they took the xt as an AIW).

Little bit of useless info

The drop on the X1900 version was needed for the thin cooler. The memory is slightly slower than that used on the X1900XT.

As for the X1800XL, it should handle the full X1800XT treatment, but might need a larger cooler. Many users have found the fast RAM required on there cards.
