Do not like the price and the Power supply is Bogus. My 550 Card requires a Min. 450 WATT and recommends a 600 Watt. Why would i want to underpower my Video card on a $800.00 to $1000.00 Gameing Rib. That is like buying a Ferrari and putting in a straight line Three(3) cylinder engine in it. Last but not least i would have some heating concerns with all those goodies packed up in a real small box, i would definately get a 4 year warrenty on it and that would cost an arm and a leg too.

I think this AlienWare is getting more hate then it should I think it's reasonably priced, to the people listing custom built rigs, they're forgetting the X51 has built in wifi and uses a slot loading dual layer DVD burner.

and yet no one cares when they can get a better quality mobo (and cheaper i bet) then the one in this joke. alsoi bet any dual layer drve you buy is of better quality then the one in this thing. so FAIL on defending this against a homebuilt computer VS. a computer built by a company that sold out and is nothing but another crappy computer for newbs

Obviously you can build your own for cheaper, but for a prebuilt PC especially the AlienWare brand it is pretty reasonably priced especially for people that want small form factor powerful PCs but don't want to build it. Plus the AlienWare has the advantage of an all in one warranty.
P.S.
Do you have any proof at all to back up what you say are you just hating AlienWare cause everyone else is doing it?

if you don't think anyone can build a cheaper computer then any alien ware or former voodoo based PC then you really know nothing about computers. so they are the right market for someone like you considering the lack of knowledge you have about computers

Apparently you didn't read what you quoted.
Comparing a home built PC very close to their $950 X51 model

They are selling you:
slot load DVD drive smallest price is $50
1TB HDD 7200RPM 6.0gb/s 32MB Cache $100
Sandybridge mini itx Motherboard with built in wifi adapter $140
Core i5-2320 Quad core CPU $190
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit $100
6GB of 1333mhz RAM depending on quality/brand $40-$100
GPU similar to the performance of the GTX 555 $130-$200
Now the rest goes to the case and PSU is what they're selling really overpriced now as you people exaggerate, plus you get an all in one Warranty service and it's been built for you with all the hardware tested and everything.

At least for the price its better than a PS3 and an XBOX, but who would want this? Console players that's who. Its too small you cant upgrade it i3 dual core, this thing is trash for $700, but better than a $700 PS4 I bet.

That's assuming that
1. The PS4 ever sees the light of day
2. The PS4 costs $700.

I think that the PS4 will come out, but I don't think that it will cost $700 unless there's a very good reason for that price.

Is it just me or does anyone else miss the old school alienware desktops? I'm not really feeling this new "versatile form factor" direction. Any gamer buying or making a PC doesn't care about how compact it is. In fact I usually want the biggest case I can find for tons of room to upgrade.

You can upgrade it and that "dual core" is already more powerful than most of the Phenom II X4 series and in some areas the FX-4100
