Twisted politiks, did you get a boner when you jumped on miloo's ass for not having perfect sentence structure? I understood his entire post and so did you, that is why you felt the need to post your views. We get it those smelly brown people took yeeeer jobs!!!! You inbred dolts always whine about immigrants learning "american"..well he is doing that. Why are you on his case? BTW none of his words are misspelled, ironically in your one line rant one of yours is. The fail is strong with you...young grand dragon

Gaming laptop=Portable, but low on power.
Gaming PC=Uber powered, but impractical.
Take what fits better....
And that Alienware netbook (in size at least) is faster than quite a lot of $ 1K laptops out there....(Macbook, looking at you).

[citation][nom]twisted politiks[/nom]I'm sorry but if you cant spell correctly, or us grammar correctly, please don't annoy everybody else by posting comments that we have to decipher.[/citation]
I can't understand you properly, please never post again until you can stop saying shit to others.
The core2duo looked pretty impressive, having an i5-i7 will definately make it something new. The smallest laptop(or notebook) with a dedicated graphics card, option of 8gb of memory, 500gb HDD(7200RPM) or a 256gb SSD, and allows you to switch from the graphics to integrated. I find that to be very special, because laptops are meant to be mobile, not 17-19" screens with overpowered graphic cards that drain the battery.

I'll probably get one of these when I jump in the 3G internet bandwagon. I have to make trips by bus at least once a week, so this could be a good deal to handle multiplayer games while I'm in the road.

Although a 600$ laptop with a 16" screen is pretty nice. I bought an ASUS for 600$ with a radeon 4570 and a turion 2.2GHz, 4gb of DDr2. It's not an epic laptop, but it's decent.

1049 dollars for a decent base configuration? Yes please! Yeah, I realize I could purcase a laptop with a 15" screen and similar specs for around 700.00-900.00, but not laptop with similar battery life, size, or weight. This is best-in-class technology.

This laptop is a great deal. I'm surprised that so many users are ranting on and on about how over-priced it is. I believe this laptop is fairly priced. This is the first practical ultra-portable machine ever produced. You get what you pay for.

I just ordered mine few days ago - I do believe that original slower CPU is actually sufficient for me. Got experience with laptop having decent GPU, but only 1.66GHz C2D CPU and it was good. It did not overheat like my other previous laptop (talking about one year later after purchase) and I found that I can actually underclock it using lower powerstate to 1.33GHz and I see no differences in games (no FPS decrease - it is GPU which holded it back). But I did decrease CPU temperature by few degrees. So original 1.3GHz CPU in this Allienware is probably perfectly appropriate.
Anyway, what I missed here on Toms was fact, that there was a deal (or maybe still is) which was not commented here on Tom's. So that said, I bouth it few days ago with 100$ discount, so we talking of 699$ here. That is a robbery IMHO. There is no such small size computer in the world for this price like Allienware.

[citation][nom]ipp[/nom]Well upgrading the hard drive or memory is likely to be a rip off - just buy your own and install. Everyone knows that.$1100 or so out the door for a powerful SMALL laptop is pretty awesome. Not sure of the hate around here. It is plenty to play wow and or any older game, or even sc2. Just get an external monitor/kb/mouse/speakers and you have a nice little gaming setup that should last years.[/citation]

Well, you are not 100% accurate. They sell 4GB for extra 50$. Problem is, if you buy the memory extra and fit it in your self, you gonna pay much more than 50$, because there are only two DIMM positions => you have to throw away old RAM and put new one.
Same with hard drive. You don't buy hard drives spinning 7200 times per minute for under 50$. So in fact it is cheaper to upgrade (unless you know what to do with the original HW which will stay in your hands if you upgrade yourself).

I'd buy it. Swap the 5400rpm base drive for a Seagate Momentus Hybrid XT 500GB and upgrade the RAM myself... save enough coin to choke down the CA tax burden. Hey! 5% Bing Cashback if you're feeling frosty before 07/31!

It is what it is. It is a netbook sized PC with an HD screen and the guts to push it. Core i7? Nvidia GT 335M? Under 3.5#? Can an Asus 1201N do the same, even at 40% the price? At some point you have to pay for performance; it does not scale linearly.

Tested the original Core 2 Duo ULV and now the i7 is on the way. I am curios how the battery life will compare. Optimus will be big improvement as forgetting to switch is a pain, also curios if it will switch when you Plug HDMI or Displayport in. On the first M11x only VGA out works with the integrated card. Had have to manually switch over to the GT335 to fire up the others. Battery life and size made this hugely plane friendly even on long international flight because at least one plane in the connection had power and thus I could charge. Recommend getting an additional 150 watt brick for faster charging while you use the laptop. The portfolio and sleeves is very well priced, the orion bag is all together the wrong solution.

This laptop really isn't overpriced in my opinion. Switchable graphics, small form factor, and an i5 or i7 with only 18watt tdp is great. This is perfect for someone like me who takes a lot of notes at school and don't always have an outlet available. This laptop equals great battery life and when I'm passing time in between classes, I can activate the gt335 and play some games. I've also been carrying around a 12" laptop for the past 4 years and I couldn't imagine going up to a 15". I like my lappies small and its almost impossible to find0 an ultra small laptop that has dedicated gpu. I paid 3k for my T7200(35 watt) and gma 950 Fujitsu tablet convertable in 2006. So I would be happy to drop a thousand on a pc with a cpu that sucks half the juice and faster with dedicated gpu.

For people who are pondering over a netbook or a notebook will have this agony, do you want portability and light weight or performance with bulk. I want to have, performance yet light and portable.
