I've just built my new computer 2 days ago and was playing games perfectly until my headset audio volume randomly halved its self and started to play full volume whitenoise static...

Motherboard: ROG STRIX Z590 E Gaming WIFI

Notes:
  1. I've had my headset audio jack plugged into the green line out jack in my motherboard
  2. The issues started happening about 4 hours after the computer had been powered on while I was gaming so I don't see how this could be a dusty/grubby audio jack issue
  3. The static only appears when sound is coming from the headset if it is connected with an audio jack extender
  4. I'm using an audio jack extender (which isn't the problem)
  5. The system/headphones volumes don't affect the static volume
  6. The static is loud enough to give me a headache...
Please note: It is not the headset

Troubleshooting I've done:

  1. I've tried moving the headset from the motherboard jacks to the front chassis jack (Didn't change anything)
  2. I've tested my headset by plugging it into another device (Everything went away)
  3. I've removed the audio jack extender and tried plugging the headset jack both into the motherboard and front chassis jack (Made it so static would happen 100% of the time regardless of if the headset was receiving sound)
  4. I've reinstalled the audio drivers for the headset and motherboard
I've concluded that the issue must be an internal issue with the pc, but what is it and what should I do?
Hopefully, I haven't scared you away by typing a whole essay about this issue but help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Make and model of your headset? BIOS version for your motherboard? Version of Windows 10? Ideally you should be on version 21H1. It might not be the headset and the audio drivers entirely, hence the questions.

My current bios: ROG STRIX Z590-E GAMING WIFI BIOS Version: 0707
My current windows version: 21H1
My current headset: HyperX Cloud Revolver

I've installed every driver that came with my motherboard, updated bios, and updated windows.

I don't see how this could be a driver related issue at all as the static is unrecognizable to my computer and cant be recorded at all.

Something else I've noticed is that when my audio is very very very quiet the static goes away completely.
