All companies suck...

I love it. I've read through many of the posts on this forum and from what I've gathered, all companies suck. I can't buy a Dell, Compaq, IBM, HP, or any other pre-assembled machine because...man...they all "suck." I can't put together my own system because that mainboard blows, or this sound car bites. My only options seem to be an etch-a-sketch for graphics processing, a pencil and paper for word processing, and maybe a walkman for sound. Luckily, I don't subscribe to generalizations made from one isolated experience, which allows me to discount 90% of these posts. Try being more objective folks. Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean XYZ company "sucks" and is nefariously out to part everyone from their hard earned money. (just the ones P.T. Barnum spoke of) ;-)

I broke my etch-a-sketch while skateboarding, blew out an eardrum with my Walkman (Sony sucks!) and I can never find a pencil sharpener when I need one.

Now what?

Aren't computer adventures wonderful?

Lol! I've used 2 etch-sketch boards and they both broke, so count em out. As for pencils....I sued one b/c I sat on one and it drove itself into my ass (true story except for the suing:)). Welcome to THG.

Dude, have you ever gotten a papercut???

ick.

Anyway, yeah, every company is going to have someone who has had a bad experience with them, or even multiple. ATi seems to somehow flagged me and my coworkers with some kind of 'misery' flag- which no one else I've seen here has it seems....

Athlon XP 1600+, MSI K7T PRO2 RU (POS), 2x256 MB CRUCIAL PC2100 CL2.5 memory, Asus V6800 DDR Delux (GF 256) video card, 6.4GB+27GB WD HD, 40GB IBM HD (all 7200RPM). My computer is an acronym

A few people have bad experiences with a company and they are very vocal about it. I for one have an IBM and do not have a single complaint about the thing. If everyone who had good experiences made as much noise as those who have bad experiences we would rarely find the bad experiences because of the plethora of good experiences.

As other have said, welcome to THG.

I don't think all companies suck, but some certainly do, for various reasons. And, yes, people on here are very vocal about bad experiences, even though they may be isolated cases. But every time we read a complaint that illustrates a bad attitude on the part of the company involved, we all come out ahead.

Like my case. We own three Canon printers. Ever since upgrading to Windows XP, we only get to use one of them and the others sit on the shelf. Why? Because Canon told me that they were not going to pay someone to write drivers for those two printers. Period. Now, those printers were NOT that old. Does it make me less than likely to buy a Canon printer? You bet! It points to an attitude of not caring about their customers. In contrast, I own an old(!) HP DeskJet 500C and, if I wanted to, I could still run that in Windows XP.

I had the same problem with Canon. They basically refused to make drivers for any printer that they weren't selling anymore.
