I need help with one of the Rigs i’ve built for my friend.
All DirectX 12 games crash. At first it was only warzone with the infamous crash ( 0x887a0005 error code ) he was still able to play Fifa 25 with no issues whatsoever ( 4 hrs gameplay w/o any issue ) but after trying to mess
With the drivers ( nothing fancy, just DDU and reinstalling drivers in a clean environment ) Fifa started to crash Too and the crash gave me a bad/outdated driver error even with the latest game ready driver released by nVidia.
From there it’s all downhill because no matter what i’ve tried a lot of fixes and none of them worked.
Specs:
CPU: i7 14700kf
MOBO: Rog Strix B760-F Gaming Wi-Fi
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000mhz 32GB
RAM2: HyperX DDR5 5600mHz 32GB)
(Two different brands of ram to see if it was a faulty stick)
GPU: MSI RTX 3060 gaming x OC 12GB
SSD: 2x SAMSUNG SSD 1TB
PSU: CoolerMaster 850w +Gold
List of things i’ve tried:
•Unistalling GPU Drivers and Reinstalling them
•Repeating the same Process with a Clean Boot
•Unistalling GPU drivers with DDU and reinstalling them
•Clean boot method this time Too
• older release of the drivers
•Unistalling GeForce Now, Nvidia App
•Ran Windows Sfc/scannow and Repair Tool
•Fresh Install of Windows
•Reverted from W11 to W10
•Installer CCLeaner a Noticed that there are 9 MOBO
Drivers not up to date. Same drivers that are not up to date on my system Too but i’ve never had any issue
•GPU-Z Shows no Error
•DirectX Diagnostic Tool Shows no errors, everything fine
•Underclocking The GPU
•Lowering In-Game Setting ( this one made the game last longer but eventually crashes after 5/10 min of gameplay or during heavy Load scenarios in game)
During these, artifacts on screen started to appear but only if video quality is set to the minimum. When applying the highest settings, no artifacts at all.
HERE’s THE FUN PART
•Artifacts usually means the GPU IS DYING so i decided to stress test using Heaven, and the test did fine with no issues at Max settings possibile.
•Ran MemtestCL and final result showed 513 errors in the random Blocks section ( but i consider this test not valid since it is a well known bug and the developer also stated that the software is outdated and Made when the highest vram on gpus was 4GB )
I don’t think its a GPU related problem since it handled all the stress tests i did at maximum load.
•XMP on ( when on the rig seems slower during boot )
With XMP on and 4 Sticks of ram ( same BRAND, timigs, Etc) the pc does boot but show no signal and eventually ends up Booting in safe mode. Read almost everywhere that the 14700kf doesn’t like 4 Sticks of ram.
•XMP off
•Lowering Ram speed
•Reseated Ram
•Reseated the GPU, swapped with the other PCI-e
•Swapped PSU with a new One
Other things that i will try:
•updating Bios
•swapping to Linux
*i’ll make an update
I really don’t know what to do anymore, if you know something else that i might try to fix this issue would be Highly appreciated. My corcern is now a bad Mobo but i don’t know how to test it since we now live far away from each other
Additional Notes:
One thing i Noticed, crashes got worse when trying to calibrate the Resolution. He’s using a Tv 42”. Plugged into the HDMI port but the system only shows a 1366x768 native Resolution. I also ordered a HDMI 2.1 cable to see if it’s the problem since the port on the gpu is 2.1.
