So I have a really weird problem. This is really annoying as my PC now sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Consequently there is a lot of background noise that my friends can hear whilst gaming.
All the fans on my PC run at 100% no matter what I do. This problem first occurred when I plugged in a case fan while the PC was running. But when I plugged in the fan the PC turned off immediately. I turned the PC back on. From that point forwards all the fans on the computer run at 100% speed.
I have checked the bios. There is one option concerning fan speed. The option is "smart fan control". This has two settings. One setting allows you to choose if you want the computer to automatically set fan speeds according to the temperature and the other setting is if you want to run the fans at 100% constantly. I've tried both settings but they don't make a difference. The fans still stay stuck at 100%. I have also reset the BIOS.
I know this is my fault as I stupidly plugged in a fan while the PC was running. Have a shorted the board? Or have I damaged a temperature sensor?
Thank you
