I was thinking about getting a PCIe 4 SSD this holiday season for myself, but my Gen 3 drive is just fine until we see real DirectStorage games and programs in the wild.

yea these seem to be little late. PCIE motherboards been out for months now, slow start, and I'm sure the prices will be sky high.

For those who transfer a lot of data the need for speed never hurts.

I agree 4TB and 8TB drives coming to affordable and normal would be a huge help.

If I'm not mistaken, we should see the first one in a couple of weeks: Forspoken
I'm planning on buying it, and half of my reason why is just to try DirectStorage (the other half of my reason is that it looks fun.) :D

100% wrong. Maybe put a spinny drive back into your system to remind yourself how much of an effect disk I/O has on a system? Heck, even a proper SSD is slow as molasses now. Let's talk about VM restore time, shall we? When I can pause and restore a 16GB (in-memory) VM in just 2 or 3 seconds, that's amazing. That's time saved. I see, and appreciate, the difference in speed every day.
I do this all the time using PCI E3 and it only takes seconds. You have a point, but it’s kind of weak.
