I've heard that it's possible to fit an alpha processor into a socket A mainboard. Supposedly, it's only necessary to update the BIOS. Is this true?

lol interesting concept .. but alas not possible..

btw why would you ?

Hey man i dont know .. i just think i do !!

alpha processor in socket A? where did you hear that???
and how would you update your bios? with alpha code or x86 code?

if only DEC makes a alpha compatible with pc architecture (to support the conventional chipsets) and why would DEC do so? there are too many things involved for a processor to work with a given chipset AND arhitecture. Alpha and the PC dont blend together.

Of course, the Socket/Slot A bus (the EV6) is licenced from Alpha, apart from it there is no connection between the two.
