Alright Boys. CPU Temps. Help Please.

So..I noticed after a little while, all 4 of my CPU cores start to idle at 70C. Now. When I log off (Not restart) then log back in, the cores cool back down. I don't know what's causing. Does anyone know how to find the culprit/fix it? Thank you in advance.

First step would be to re-seat your CPU heat-sink with some good thermal grease.

The fact that a logoff seems to cool it down from idle makes me think that its a process spiking cpu usage. Have you look at your processes that are running when you hit that 70 degree idle?

It would tell me either you have a virus, a bit of server software running.
Or a cpu/ Gpu bitcoin or crypt o mining software running as a back ground task in windows.

The first thing to check is what is running or launching after windows has loaded.

In your search box of windows type: Msconfig.
Click on the startup tab in the box that opens.
And look for any bit of software, task or process that is ticked and auto running.
Untick any reference to any bit of software ect.
With an obscure name other than you know what software is set to launch after windows has loaded.

Run both an antivirus scan, and a malware scan of your system.
The fact that the cpu cools off, when you log off tells you it is a task or process running or set to launch on your windows os the first time the system is powered on and windows is loaded.

Logging off terminates any tasks or processes running in windows for the set user.

Yes and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Although, on normal websites such as this, random advertisemnets have been popping up as videos, acting as if they're part of the page. I'll run Adwcleaner right now.

I think I found the culprit. Some adware that I got. I never installed AVG yet (I just built this computer around Christmas), so I'm gonna do that and then run Adwcleaner. Thanks for all of your responses!

Yeah that sounds about right. I'd recommend avira over AVG at this point, better detection rate and way less popups. Also Hijack This or Autoruns (slightly easier to understand) are good programs for seeing whats starting up with the system. MSConfig in Win7 and below or Task Manager in Win10 don't give you the full picture with your startup.

Oh a nice invasive little sucker. Make sure to check your restore points. I've seen some nasty pieces hide in there. If it has hidden in there it might be worth it to delete all of the previous points and make a new one once you're stable.
