Hey, guys, i just found out an excellent alternative for AF assist lamp, if
your camera don't have it (Like mine), or focusing in dark conditions: laser
pointer. You just have to unscrew the lens a bit in order to get non focused
beam - a bit wide, so that it's clearly visible in AF window. Works like a
champ! And cheap as hell, too.

Be careful where you use it. There are many places where they are
banned including a lot of museums, art galleries and all tombs in
Egypt. There is concern over light damage to paintings and such as
wall murals caused by laser pointers although for a fee they will often
allow you to use flash!

I've invested in a light weight head-band light that uses four LEDs and
can be set to three levels of brightness. It's definitely superior to
ordinary torches as the light is evenly spread yet fairly focused
unlike those irritating bands you get with ordinary bulbs that
sometimes make it hard to see.

I thought about Led torches. I guess i'll try out and see which one is
better. However, i don't intend to shoot (yet) in any public places, just
home and my friends, so a bit of laser is not harmful.
