Alternatives to Thermal Paste

Just asking, can anyone list any alternatives they know to thermal paste (keep in mind that I am not sure whether I will use water cooling or just heatsink+air cooling).

There are no alternatives to thermal paste, unless you plan to submerge your whole system in a mineral oil tub. its needed to conduct the heat from your processer to the heat sink.

What about a thin layer of liquid copper , of course you might not be able to separate the 2 once put together , but wonder how well the heat transfer erom cpu to cooler would be ?

The ways to apply this are either completely impractical or would be counter-productive.
