Am I screwed in the world of Oblivion?

Oh, I also didn't think so. However, I started to notice something strange. You see, whenever I visit a new town, I also make sure I take down all the guards if possible (and at times accidently chopped some of the town people who attacked me side by side with the guards ... sad to say, town people don't seem to respawn). And every a couple of days or so, I would face another group of guards. Some of them I can only knock them unconcious and have to face them again, again, and again. In every town I have visited, there were corpses of naked men (and women I supposed) piling up - like 20 or 30 of them on one spot. It is actually quite a gruesome scene ... I mean ... why don't all these bodies despawn?! So, to cut a long story short, I think the guards do respawn.

Anyway, thanks! I am certainly having lots of fun! Another headache right now is that the towns don't seem to welcome murderers living in their neighborhoods. Hence, it seems no one wants to sell me a place to live. What am I to do with all the money I raised by selling gears from the guards?!

Oh well ...

The guards that you can't kill are the ones who are important for the main plot line. I'm not sure if all the people are part of the main plot line are immortal, but the guards are at least.

Thats one aspect of oblivion I didnt like (but fixed with a mod) was the psycic guards. i kill a guard in skingrad, haul arse to Bruma and the guards already know what I look like (even changing into armor that covers my face) and they know my crime and intend to bring me in dead or alive. Its not like they have telecommunications in Cyrodil and they are covering me slaughtering guards live on Cyrodil news channel 5.

Literally normally i think it should take a week or so for news of your guard and or civilian slaughtery to reach every corner of cyrodil.

Any NPC that is absolutely required to finish the main questline, is immortal. I havent seen a mod for it yet, but I thought it would be cool to un immortalize all the previously immortal characters once the main quest is beaten, and add quests to become the lord of each town, and Emporer, in a bloody coup.

That would be a fun mod. That would probably be interesting enough for me to start playing again.

Bah. 70,000GP? That's nothing lol. I think the highest mine went was 2billion GP, that's with the Nocturnal Cowl of course. I'd have fun taking down the entire Imperial Legion, oh and some Palace guards as well. I'd go and decimate the entire town and move to the next one and repeat, going in a counter-clockwise fashion. By the time I reach the town I started in, all the guards are back alive! Rinse and repeat mate.

There are also times where I couldn't find any more guards to kill. So I start hacking away on my guild members. Bah, I saved the world so it's okay to kill some people. After all, if I didn't save the world, they'd all be dead anyways.

Ha ha ha ... I am so with you on this one. I think the game would be more fun if there is a chance that the guards or town people don't recognise you (unless you are so infamous). And we should be able to see officials pasting Wanted poster everywhere in town. That would be fun.

Oh mine, you are my inspiration!

I have just restarted the game with another not-so evil toon. Perhaps after I save the world, I will hack away everything I see and create my own storyline along the line of corruption ...

I remember my first encounter with the world of oblivion. I forgot which one it was, I think it was a demo or something. I started off in some small building and took some stuff off a table, threw some silveware and ran outside. From there I pranced around and followed the side of a mountain. I found a small cave which I entered and was killed by some theif/creature. I tried fighting but for some reason I couldn't tell if I was dealing damage or what so I tried to run away and died. That was about as far as I got with my oblivion experience.

That's not cheating that's an ''enhancement''. I only cheat on my second play through.(usually)

I don't know about becoming the lord of the town but I did find a mod that would let you kill off the immortal people.

nice little story but a level 4 defeating one guard, uhm...... no. maybe a level 20 with good armour to take on a few guards if you are lucky level 30 would be better.

Yeah, your not good at this game at all. If you are a level 30 and still cant beat a guard, then you suck. It is very easy to kill guards when you are a lower level even with the difficulty set higher because the guards level up with you which, in turn, makes them weaker.

Last night i just killed everyone in the chorrol gaurd barracks while trying the kill the draconis family member for the dark brotherhod mission. I am a level 26 and they only took down 1/4 of my health even though they knocked me down twice and when about 10 people where attacking me at once. No potions used either and my magika is glitched at 0(no i did not pick the sign of the atronark which makes me unable to regenerate my magic juice, i am a swordsman).

The guy who said that he killed guards at level 4 is not making it up, he probably killed the whole town, it not that tough. The guy im quoting just suckes at everything he does.

well i see you had a long, devoted experience in Cyrodil.
