Someone asked me to build them a computer but now I'm afraid I made a huge mistake when choosing the parts 😱
Pleas guys I need your help here. The motherboard says the max CPU Support is a Phenom II and it says AM3 CPU Ready Y. What does this mean???
The motherboard is a MSI K9N6PGM-V2 - 6CH Audio - Gb LAN - Nvidia 6150e - AM2+ Motherboard and the CPU an AMD Athlon II x 4 Quad Core 630 - Boxed CPU - 2.8Ghz Socket AM3.
Will this work?
Would I need to update the BIOS? How do you do this?
Guess I might need to buy the motherboard if it doesn't... please tell me it will!

Yes, you can download it to your computer and then save it into a pen drive or floppy disk to be able to use it when flashing the bios of the new mobo (if needed, because it's possible that it comes with the bios that you need preinstalled)

I have never done this before. Let me get it straight:
I built the computer
I turn for the first it on hoping it will boot without the update
If it doesn't have the correct BIOS update what will happen?
How do you "flash" the bios?

Are you sure it's not the 7309v24 version?

Yes, I'm sure if the cpu is the C2 version:
Athlon II X4 Propus ADX630WFK42GI x630 200 2.80 2M N/A C2 95 7309v20.zip

If you have a C3 version cpu, you will need the 7309v24 bios update:
Athlon II X4 Propus ADX630WFK42GM x630 200 2.80 2M N/A C3 95 7309v24.zip
