AM3+ upgrade question

im looking to upgrade my computer from a 760k FM2+ board/cpu to a AM3+ build. my question is i had an windows 7 oem version (that i upgraded to 10) can i just switch the hard drive over or do i have to buy a new OS?

You will have to buy a new os. It will recognize the motherboard is different and not allow you to use it.

I'm changing my motherboard, it's sill an AM3+ though. Will I still need to buy a new OS?

At this time I would say do not make this upgrade .

AMD's new platform AM4 is due in March next year .
If you want to upgrade now add things like case/psu and graphics card but hold off on the core hardware

i had to change my motherboard already (still an fm2+ though ) after i installed the os why didnt it come up with a message or something then?
