Hello. I have a Asus B450 Tuf Pro MB, 32g ram , Win10 with a Thermaltake Contac Silent 12 cooler with a 2nd fan (push pull). When I monitor idle or Prime95 temps with Occt, I get very short lived 10 degree spikes. Is this normal?

Everything seems to be working ok. I was using a thermal pad however I removed it and put down Arctic Silver paste. No change in the spikes, however the mb is a few degrees cooler overall. The mb is sitting outside my case right now. I get 25c - 35c idle and 64c-69c with Prime95.

thanks

Like @CosmicDance says: that's normal. It's an effect of the Ryzen's aggressive boosting algorithm. It can make fans pulse though... I adjust my fans to basically ignore temp changes below about 65 or 70 C. I'll set a flat curve at the highest fan speed that's still quiet enough to not be heard or bothersome, then start a mild ramp at 65C up to 70C, then steeper until it's going airplane mode around 90 or even 95 C.
