[citation][nom]gwolfman[/nom]What sucks is the 128-bit memory interface. They should have kept it 256-bit and I'd buy it.[/citation]

What if it makes little difference? Doesn't the process shrink mean that the GPU aligns with more bus lanes? I was thinking it does...

I know GDRR5 is faster than GDDR3, but does it lower the card's required power too?

Ok why dont they also make a GPU with like 3 or 4 Video Cards in one like a 4850 X4 that would be great. I also would like to See nvidia do that maybe then Nvidia would beat ATI.

You don't know what you're talking about.

900 --> 1800Mhz GDDR3 * 256bit / 8 = 57.6GB/s
900 --> 3600Mhz GDDR5 * 128bit / 8 = 57,6GB/s

bits are bit everything in this world.

Using 128bit they cut a hell of space than using 256. Also GDDR5 utilize less voltaje so that reduce consumption a give the same bw as having GDDR3.

Kudos for AMD/Ati, I'm going for this baby. Please, call it HD5670.

well well, is this article suposed to be ATI not AMD?
anyways 40mn wootz glimse of how competitive next gen cards are going to be. This just might be a small test card for 40mn process but wootz

AMD owns ATI so...

I'm not sure because of the GDDR5, but this card might be profitable for AMD at the same pricing as the 4670. Now that would be one hell of price performance ratio.

So GDDR5 is ready to be commonplace? (cheap enough) to create a mid/mid-low (for the time will be released) range video card?

well since they are doing a die shrink it becomes cheaper to produce

nice, probably this will only require power on the PCI-E slot alone.
good thing i haven't bought any card yet as long price on this new one is near 9800GT current price.

[citation][nom]that_aznpride101[/nom]is this card really going to be less than $100? hmm...[/citation]
Well if it is then NVIDIA has some serious problems on their plate. Nothing is in concrete yet though.

it would make sense since the biggest plus to ATI is price/performance which they made big with 4xxx series

If this one comes close to my HD3870 and is only powered by the PCI-E slot than I'm definitely buying it! Keep it up AMD!

The GDDR5 memory should offer more then enough bandwidth. I wouldn't worry about it.

If this card is priced in the $100 range, then NVIDIA just lost the war.

I bet it's cheaper to use GDDR5 than it is to use 256bit for this card. So they decided to go for the GDDR5, buying more reducing the cost of GDDR5, as they need a lot more, more will be produced, moving the market from GDDR3 to 5.

It's a good move. We will see a lot from this little red devil. They might not be as fast as the 295, but they at least produce cards people want to play games on for a price people are willing to pay. Because except for the few elites, who really has 3 or 4 280's or 4870 together and enjoying it. People want 4850's and 9800's because they are affordable and give good performance.

With this card, we will see performance like the 4850 for half the price. What else do you want (yes 295 performance for under 100$ but that will not happen while it's the best card on the block :)).

Yep. This seems to be very good middle range card indeed! The move to 128 bit is allso good, because the production cost and power reguirements.
So this means than next step is to go higher end 40nm products. Are they coming or is ATI moving straigth to new versions (DX11) as has been rumored?
One funny thing would be put 4 of these to the same board. It's so smal and cheap to produce that it would be possible to see x4 version of this card ;-)

Wait till I get this card, hopefully it doesn't have the huge die like GTX 280 or 295, and hopefully it can run cooler.
Another hope, crysis will run medium-high details with this card?
