AMD 7850K vs i5 4440

I am planning of a new budget gaming PC.
Now for gaming without discrete GPU which CPU is better AMD Kaveri 7850K or i5 4440???
(is there anything else in pipeline from Intel or AMD?)

right now, i can't recommend a cpu+gpu combo against an a10 7850k without knowing how much an a10 7850k and an a88x chipset motherboard (preferably from asus) will cost, together with 8GB (2x 4GB) ddr3 2133 ram (1.5v). the high speed memory is necessary to take advantage of the r7 series igpu due to it's sensitivity to high speed ram.

around inr6500
now a ddr3 2133 kit (1.5v), same memory size are around inr 6700 to inr 8200.
now compare these to fx 6300 for inr 7450 and radeon hd 7770 for inr 7900-8000 - total approx. inr 15500. getting a 7850k at launch price (approx inr 13000) gets you a vastly underperforming igpu compared to 7770 and leaves you just 2500 for discreet gfx in case you want more performance than the igpu can deliver. i used flipkart and smc international prices and considered mobo and memory prices the same.

SMC is offering me Asus A88-XM at Rs 6500!
I read on a thread that 7850 best crossfire's with 7750 and anything above it bottlenecks, if this is true then this combo does not sound future proof at all for gaming!
I have kept other alternative as 6300 + 7770 or 650ti!

Either core i3 build is far superior for gaming than Kaveri is. I would go with the 750ti build, personally.

the apus, as well as most of amd cpus bottleneck powerful gaming graphics cards in demanding situations. amd's real attraction is in pricing and the percentage of performance (of pricier cpus) it offers.

futureproofing is a myth.

with i5 4440, you get a more powerful cpu but nothing for powerful graphics. due to core i3 pricing and newer games demanding more cores, i don't usually recommend those anymore.

My suggestion, wait for h1 2015, bu yourself a carrizo based APU/athlon(according to the folks at AMD, the ecavator based CPUs are monsters, and they'll be coupled with a more powerful GP, and by the way the excavator cores are supposedly faster than the fx series which should turn out to be pretty awesome, I mean the current Kaveri based APUs are powerful enough to run crysis at mid settings 720p and get above 30+ fps and with these guys coming next year, I can't imagine what we'll see)

the fx6300+radeon hd 7770 combo only looks good for gaming when you compare prices to a10 7850k. for pc gaming itself, fx6300 or fx8320 and radeon hd 7790 or radeon r7 260x or radeon hd 7850 2gb gddr5 or r9 270/270x would be better. or core i5 cpu with same gfx card(s).
if your total budget for cpu and gfx is around the price of a10 7850k, then core i5 is out of range. only leaves fx6300 .. preferably with a 990fx chipset motherboard. make sure to check bios versions and cpu support list of your chosen motherboard.

Go with AMD APU if you have finalised that you won't buy a graphic card.
Or, save some bucks, go with i3+Good GPU (Maybe 7770). The i3+GPU would perform better than the 7850K.

Or go with the fx 6300 and the 7770(will cost as much as nexus007's build and will perform way better and you'll have much better oc performance, heck i oc'ed my cpu to 4.6 ghz on air and stock voltage which is kinda awesome)

as for mothebroard... i had a bit of suspicion so i checked out it's cpu support list:

as of the latest bios version F6, the highest supported retail cpu is fx6350. no support for fx8320 or fx8350. as much as you'd like to "futureproof", you seem to have limited options. unless gigabyte upgrades the cpu support, ofc. this is why i suggested better motherboards, they tend to have wider supported parts.

btw, if you don't have funds now, it never hurts to wait and save up money.

i've been hearing that indian shopping sites charge more than local shops. you might want to check out your local options for cheaper deals.

ok.... with "fututreproof" i meant was 7850 alone will barely play games released after 2yrs nd with 7850 + 7750 i can maximum go to med setting for upcoming games! now with 6300 + 7750/270X i can atleast get decent playable setting for 2016 games!!
(i m not intrested in upgrading my PC for next 3-4 yrs, maxmimu i can go for crossfire that too after 2 yrs)
I am getting Sapphire 260X for Rs 10,800 locally....... should i consider it or 7770 coz price difference is not more than rs 500?

thanks to the last gen consoles being near the end of their life, pc gaming performance was not pushed too far. so any decent dual core cpu and entry level gfx card can play most of current games at medium to low settings. however, new consoles are out and they should be pushing for higher performance soon (if not already). a 4 core apu with 7750 may be able to play games 2 years later, but not without lowering gfx settings even further. also, the entry level cards start underperforming in newer and more demnading games earlier than midrange cards.

please don't set a goal like that, especially for gaming.

yes, the r7 260x is a better deal.

actually 7850+mobo is around Rs 20K and 6300+mobo+11K gpu is around Rs 24K so for extra 4K i am getting a big performance difference hence better to go with 6300 build!
I have read at lot of places that for GB GA970A-DS3 to support 6300 we need to update bios first which is a risky job nd voids warranty too.... any comments!!??

i don't know about bios updates violating warranties. you should contact gigabyte customer support and your local seller.

ddr3 1600 will be better.

i dont wanna sound churlish but i know 1600 would be better but is difference noticeable?? (since i m low on budget 1333 i can buy 4X2 gb but 1600 i can buy only one 4gb stick and add another 4gb maybe after 6-8 months)
