Hi,

I just bought a AMD 9590 and GA-990FXA-UD3 fresh windows install and i update the driver to rev 4.1 and my computer keep freezing after 5 minutes whatever i do, even idle.
My BIOS is updated to F3.
Temperature of the CPU never went over 75C in heavy load.

Got a 850 psu and a radeon r9 290 btw.

Anyone got any tip?

Thank you!

Solution
Well first you need to check the heatsinks seating. 30c idles is high for a AMD CPU idle. Should be around 20c +/- depending on ambient.

As well, check your event viewer and see if there are any warnings or errors when the freezing happens. It could just be a bad driver or a bad HDD. I still think you need to get temps in control first then focus on the freezing. Overheating the CPU can eventually cause more issues than anything.

75 Celcius would be enough to freeze the computer? it even freez at around 30c, not sure that's the problem

Considering that AMD has stated a maximum of 62c, yes. In fact you might have already caused damage to it although CPUs are notoriously hard to damage or kill.

I'm Italian and I speak a little english! I have the same problem but I found a solution!
Enter on BIOS and disable CPU energy save (c1, c1e, c6, cnq) and enable hpc!
This CPU don't like voltage changes!
Also you must buy a water cooler! I have Corsair H105 and it's perfect!

Good to know but I bought a watercooler and it is working really well, no more problem, it was a heat problem for sure.

Thank you

I know that this thread is dead. But for anybody that bought the chip blindly like I did and has this issue. Make sure you do these things: check memory with memtest, turn of performance boost in your BIOS, make sure ur Mobo is coming.patible, make sure ur using water cooling, make sure u Underclocking the chip slightly, make sure u are using at least a silver rated 850w PSU. I had to do all of these things until I got mine to stabilize.
