Hi,
Just built my first PC as a budget/mid range gaming rig. I went with the AMD 965 BE as I thought with the ability to overclock this would have met my needs and from what I had read about this (with a decent aftermarket cooler -212 Evo) I'd be able to at least be getting the 4ghz mark.
However, when I'm coming to do the over clock my temps are running high it seems. According to AMD Overdrive I'm idling around 40C and under load I'm pushing 60C within 10 - 15min of running a Prime95 Belnd test. This is at 3.8ghz with standard 1.325v.
So there it is, I think this is a little high for what I was expecting and from what I can gather from trawling the interwebs at large and was wondering if anyone out there could help with their experiences or where the trouble could be coming from.
System Specs
CPU - AMD Phenom ii 965 Black Edition (125w edition)
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-770T-D3L Micro ATX (Secondhand but BIOS up to date)
RAM - 8gb
GPU - XFX 7870 Tahiti version (Double D)
Cooler - Hyper 212 Evo (Reseated multiple times using arctic silver thermal paste using Articlean to clean each time)
Case - CM Enforecer Storm (I think the model is)
OS - Windows 7 64 bit
Misc - Cable management is pretty good as far as I can tell and the fan set up is as follows:
-200mm intake fan from the front of the case
-200mm exhaust fan blowing out the top
-120mm exhaust fan blowing out the back
-2 x 120mm fans (2000rpm) on push/pull config on the Hyper 212 Evo (Got it installed so it blows up as heat rises)
TL;DR
High temps I think with no more option to push past 3.8ghz overclock due to temps
Thanks in advance guys
