Hey so I know that it was confirmed that the kaveri APUs would only dual graphics with the r7 240 and 250 but is there anyone who knows of anybody attempting dual graphics with the 260x and then for sure finding out that it does or does not work? The older APUs were able to dual graphics with graphic cards that they weren't specified to so hopefuly it's the same with kaveri? Thanks

I did get an answer, sorry not to follow up!

[We apologize for the delay. We are experiencing a higher-than-normal volume of e-mails and as such are delayed in our replies. We are very sorry for the lack of response and extended wait time in dealing with your request.

I understand that you want to know the graphic card models that could crossfire(dual graphics) with your A10-7850K. If I have missed any critical information about your issue please let me know as my suggestions may change.

A10-7850k could only do dual-graphics with AMD Radeon R7 250 or AMD Radeon R7 240. We do not have any...

Are you sure? I know it appears to make sense that it works with A10-7850k's integrated graphics, but I just can't seem to find anything to validate this as anything but a theory. Trust me, I wish it does. I have an R7 260X-DCO2-2GD5. Maybe when they release some of the new support for the R7 265 we'll see it, but I just can't find any substantive information.

I actually contacted AMD today, lol. Waiting for a response...

did you get a response back from AMD? I have an a10-7850k and i was planning on buying a radeon r7 250x or 260 (non-s) asap if either one of them can crossfire / dual graphics with it?

I don't think it can dual graphic with a ddr5 card yet. I'm using an A10 7850k on a Gigabyte A88x G1 Sniper Mobo and had been trying to dual graphic with a R7 250 1Gb DDR5 card but have had no luck at it. Some guy posted results he had with a dual graphic 7850K and a R7 250 DDR5 but had used an ASUS board. I could not get mine to do it. I had updated the BIOS, installed Mantle drivers and forced the integrated GPU with 1Gb of my RAM allocated but still had no luck. Guess we'll have to wait for updates on this.

DDR5 is not an issue. The A10-6800k would dual graphics with the 7750 DDR5 (which is actually faster than the 250 sadly). I saw a thread about dual graphics not appearing if your ram speed is too slow.

It will dual graphics with the Gddr5 version i have it done on my gigabyte board.
I want the 260x to be supported myself.
To get dual graphics working goto the amd site download the latest non beta APU drivers.
DO NOT HAVE THE VIDEO CARD INSTALLED YET OR IT WILL NOT WORK.
uninstall all amd software in programs and features reboot, then install the latest NON BETA Drivers reboot
wait till it boots up restart again into bios force your igpu set the vram in graphics settings 1gb is usually fine save setup. shut down the computer, add the video card turn on the computer let it boot and drivers self install for your video card and it will ask you if you want to enable dual graphics, click yes and voila you have dual graphics worked on my gigabyte board and the steps for any other mobo. in the future they might add better support for video cards, more people just need to invest in apus first so they see the market for that is there. i hope this post helps many out with their dual graphics. i have a asus R7 250 Gddr5 1gb dual graphics with my 7850k w/2133mhz ram. playing all my games on high 60fps steady. :) i am impressed

you also have to remember when it comes to AMD's and ram, you want a low CAS count about 9 is great, seen that many test where slower MHz ram sticks beat out higher speed ram, cause the slower had a lower CAS count
these would be a good entry lvl: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f314900cl8d8gbxm
or if you have a bit more budget: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f32133c9d16gtx

from what i have read here and other places higher speed helps the APU, but you gotta keep the CAS count low, haven't found out exactly why, but saw a benchmark somewhere last year where it showed the difference for AMD v Intel for speed vs CAS count, end result was AMD kept even with intel, when AMD had slower ram but lower CAS count!, intel loves speed, AMD loves CAS!

Did you get a reply from AMD?

the new kaveri APUs benefit directly from higher frequency due to the bandwidth being the bottleneck in APUs. 2133 performs best for the money with 2400 being unsupported by all but the best of boards and most APUs other than the 7xxx series unable to get above 1866mhz anyway. best choice for APUs is the 7850k with 2133mhz memory and a 250x.

Technically, you're mostly correct, but a couple of your facts need minor adjustments.... Yes, 2133 is the recommended RAM frequency for AMD APUs and Dual Graphics implementations, but there are other APUs OTHER than just the AMD "7xxx" series that can handle 2133mhz RAM natively without much trouble of overclocking the APU itself.

-- One APU that I can think of right now off the top of my head that's NOT a 7xxx series APU, that also supports 2133mhz RAM, is the AMD A10-6800K. It natively supports both 1866mhz AND 2133mhz RAM.

-- And you also said that you believed the "...best choice for APUs is the 7850k with 2133mhz memory and a 250x." Wellllllllll, if someone is wanting to run their R7-based APU(ie. A10-7700k, A10-7850k, etc.) in Dual Graphics mode in conjunction with a PCI-E discrete GPU, yes, 2133mhz is the sweet spot for the system RAM speed, but running a 250x GPU won't work. True, it would be a good card to pair up with an APU and disable the integrated graphics on the APU itself, but in order to successfully run AMD's Dual Graphics on these types of processors, ONLY the R7 240/R7 250 will work "properly." This isn't just me guessing either. It's well documented.... Also, I'm typing this from my desktop with the AMD Kaveri APU you mentioned, as well as G.Skill Sniper 2133 9-11-10-28 RAM, coupled successfully in Dual Graphics mode with a R7 250 GPU and it all works wonderfully together.

ps.. this reply isn't meant as criticism of your post; just as a helpful correction! =)

Just for people are trying dual Graphics with the GDDR5 250 R7 with 7850k APU. Here is ALL.

1. Yes.... GDDR5 250 R7 dual Graphics are working.
2. Ram speed should be high enough. I dont know how high, but 1333mhz and 1800mhz may not Work. Im running 2400mhz and so should you. AMD bottleneck is MHz. Get is HIGH.
3. Remmember settings in BIOS under NB mostly.... Some advanced settings. Follow guides on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFAMmTDu_H0
4. www.amd.com and get the APU driver. I dont know if theres a difference, but you dont wanna go for the external GPU driver. You are working with APU systems, do the APU driver.

Thats it... I tested above. Ram speed was my proplem.

Just wanna confirm this. Havent tested 250x myself, but AMD does NOT mention the support of 250x and havent read 1 post of proove that 250x and 7850k Work together.

Hello ! , i too using Gigabyte Sniper Mobo (the one with the green lighting mobo so cool) and a A10-7850K , i also wanted to DG(Dual Graphics) it with the highest R7 series. So is there any news regarding about it ?

Check my thread out on AMD if you are considering the r7-250, the 250 is the highest of the R7 family that will crossfire as we know it, but future drivers are speculated to be able to utilize the APU along side other AMD cards in a small manner exclusively in mantel games; to handle things like physics calculations and such.

Regardless, from my tests, if you can afford the 260x, get it anyway.

I just want to add in regard to the DDR5 versions of the r-750, that it is important to "make sure" that dual graphics is ACTUALLY working, because it is possible for catalyst to say that it is, but device manager not show the dual configuration and/or not use both properly.

Seriously?! Could you provide us any gaming scores, screenshots, videos that show that dual graphis with a R7 260x actually works? Thanks in advance!

Pfft. Dont lie to us. Pretty convenient that you got rid of a relatively new and top of the line APU ain't it so you cant post results.

what graphics card you used to connect Dual Graphics?

Some time ago I have been following this topic on A10 7850K + R7 260x! I'm from Argentina, and apparently, hybridization between these two, works perfectly ... I'm still not sure, I'm still waiting for an answer from someone who has experienced, because if AMD says he has not tried it, I have serious doubts.

Sorry for my English so bad.
