I paired it with a 1060 so its a cpu.
in HWMONITOR shows a max of 86C. Bought a hyper 212 evo new paste still nothing. when i leave it off overnight , on boot bios shows low temps like 25 and then goes up.
I heard it throttles at about 70 so yeah....
I oced it to 4.2 from 3.9 but even without oc its same.
help! 🙁

No-one has mentioned AMD Overdrive yet? https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/amd-overdrive
It's the only software which accurately reads 'temperature' for those processors. Also see: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2122665/understanding-temperature-amd-cpus-apus.html

Install AMD Overdrive and check your thermal margins (the headroom to overheating). So the higher the thermal margin, the cooler the processor is. Use AMD Overdrive's stress test if necessary to see what the thermal margin is on a full load. As long as it's a positive value on a full load, the processor is fine.

Experience leads me to think your reading in HWMonitor is fine; but check with AMD Overdrive.

That did not in any way shape or form answer the OP's question. This was about temperatures, not bottlenecks.

Yeah 86'C does seem quite a bit high. Have you tried using a different fan with your Hyper 212?

His temps are high because of bottleneck

No, that is completely flat out wrong. Bottlenecking does not have anything to do with poor temperatures. You're either a troll or horribly misinformed or know nothing about what you are talking about.

Poor temperatures are usually the problem of air being recirculated in the PC, improper heat sink installation, or very cheap fans being used. But it is definitely not caused by bottlenecking.

Bottlenecks have no bearing on temps, please stop replying with nonsense.

make sure your fan is plugged into the right pin connection (pvm compatible power pins)
possibly reapply thermal paste (especially if its old. i killed a whole computer with an a8 because of overheating. the thermal paste was dry as the desert after about 2 years of use. bestbuy computer

i mean...i wouldnt say "absolutely no effect" because a GPU can drastically change airflow in the case...but yeh i get what youre saying.

I assume but the question is if i should trust amd software or not but i assume yes because its an amd cpu i dont know...
