Obviously I need to learn to count better 😀:

AMD Drops Sharply on 12th Straight Loss

Advanced Micro Devices, the number two PC chipmaker to Intel, reported a smaller loss in the third-quarter on declining revenues. The Sunnyvale, Calif-based concern showed sequential improvement and topped average estimates as demand from the PC market ticked up during the period.

Regardless, shares in the company were down precipitously after the opening bell Friday, changing hands at $5.83, a drop of almost 6% from its Thursday closing price.
The third-quarter loss was AMD's 12th-straight quarterly loss.

After the closing bell on Thursday, AMD reported over a 20% decline in sales compared to the year-ago period, landing at $1.4 billion. Still, the company said sales increased 18% versus the second quarter, while forecasts showed many expecting AMD to report $1.26 billion in sales.

AMD also said demand in China bolstered results in the quarter.

AMD's bottom-line loss narrowed to 18 cents per share compared to a 22-cent per share loss in the year-earlier quarter.

The third-quarter earnings showing, which was also aided by a $66 million gain from a debt repurchase, bettered the 42-cent loss forecast offered by analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters.

Somehow I figured 4Q06 - 3Q09 was 13 quarters! Next time I'll take my shoes & sox off first before counting 😀.

Well... look on the bright side, at least you didn't put your blindfold on and proclaim that AMD made a profit.

Actually AMD did make a prophet - our one & only Jennyh! 😀

Perhaps you might recall having forum-married her once or twice 😀.

ROFL!

Not possible TC ... the benchmarks look good and I doubt Chris would want his reputation sullied. Personaly I think he is the best reviewer Toms has currently. I think they simply ran it as an advertorial as AMD were prepared to pay ... the benchies speak for themselves.

NVidia are up sh!t creek without a paddle in the meantime ... which I find so karmicly refreshing.

Yes, but if it were the other way around, and it was Intel's "advertorial" you would have several AMD Fanboys blue in the face here complaining of how Intel buys out every review site, and that Intel is evil.

Intel doesnt need to buy out sites, as theyre shown even more than their market share numbers.
Or, do you actually believe most sites run benches 1 to 4 ratio on AMD HW?
But, even so, I agree, a petty argument it would be, and to me, what I said above is a much more damaging thing than an advertorial from either company

" we'd definitely pick having a functional drive over the promised 40 percent speed boost from the code, so you should probably hold off if you've downloaded but haven't updated yet. We're looking into things, we'll let you know -- but man, the X-25M just hasn't had an easy life, has it?

Update: Intel just gave us its official statement on the matter:
Yes, we have been contacted by users with issues with the firmware upgrade for our 34nm SSDs and we are investigating. We take all sightings and issues seriously and are working toward resolution. We have temporarily taken down the firmware link while we investigate."
So, theyre new to the SSD scenario, wonder how many fixes for the fixes will be before we have a decent working LRB?
