Hi guys, I'm looking for a current-generation AMD Athlon Processor that represents the best value for money. I'm planning to upgrade my motherboard so that my PC can support a better video card for the kids, but I still need lots of CPU power to crunch all my numbers.

Appreciate any thoughts. I'm looking for this CPU to last me for the next year or so. How does this one sound?

7750 is Kuma right? Meaning its still 65nm technology. New "Regor" 45nm versions of Athlon X2 will come in summer (June 2009) with clocks up to 3.1GHz, which will be a better gaming cpu than Kuma will ever be.

AFAIK those X3s fit into older AMD mobos, but TonCharr28 need a new motherboard as well, to maximize the CPU you've suggested?

I suggest the OP visits the web page for his motherboard , reads the CPU support list [ because we dont even know if its AM2 or 939 or 754 ] and then heads off to the tomshardware cpu charts .

Nice link at the top of the page
