I have just imtalled this driver after following the the uninstall from AMD. I have 2 x r9 290x cards running in crossfire but wait !!!!!!!!When playing bf4 it crashes all the time Yes crashes all the time I have to turn crossfire off to run the game.I have the Asus rog board with fx9590 and AMD Gamers addition memory running on the preset profile.I have a DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVEDID3D10 DeviceDriver 14.1 (13.35.105-140131a167669e.ATI)ATI I say waste of my time and money I am now running the set up with crossfire turned of and it plays very well. ( just not as good as with the 2 cards in crossfire )When o when are amd going to get the drivers right How long have they had this time ?Not a very happy customers who was promised the world !!!!But given the wet end of the shitty stick.:-(

Agree with mouse...Verification please. ON overclockers they categorized it as rumor and not verified. ON forums I saw no such thing and would think you'd see some whiners. There is nothing new in the driver that would cause that (it's a 3rd rev or so of the branch).
"Fortunately it hasn’t killed every card it’s touched (It’s actually a very low amount)"

I call FUD. NV sells 2x the cards that AMD does, so a VERY low amount is just normal card deaths probably. I didn't even know who mod crash was until you posted that...ROFL. Not credible, probably just trying to get hits. They haven't benchmarked any new cards etc. They are a struggling site at best. Tell me tomshardware or pcper, etc posted this and delved into it proving it and I'll happily consider my FUD comment retracted. Also, AMD's list of fixes looks pretty massive too 😉 That is the case in every driver rev from both sides. Expected, as every game is a new ballgame to some degree. If that wasn't the case, you'd just release one driver and all games would work fine from that day forward. We know this is false, which is why we have monthly/bi-monthly etc drivers.

Anyone can say whatever they like about AMD. There's plenty of negatives, but painting a picture that they only have bad drivers while the other camp if full of roses irks me. That and dismissing tech that has great potential and comes at no price to the end user. That last part can be applied to other companies and technologies.

PhysX is good fun and doesn't cost anyhing but look how that is slagged off, why aren't you moaning about how AMD users talk about that?

Oh, but it does cost. It cripples performance on AMD GPUs when it can't be turned off in a game (at least one of the Batman games had this issue if I recall). I know what you're thinking, it needs proprietary hardware to run, but then why did nV block the possibility of using one of their cards for PhysX with an AMD one a few years back. The tech itself is nice, how it's managed is where it fails.

Because an ex Nvidia employee (Richard Huddy) slagged them off for not allowing the AA code that had been written by Nvidia to be used by AMD. And it hasn't cost anything so once again you are incorrect, now get back on topic.

Didn't I just mention crippling the performance of the competition in some games? Also, are you for real with being on topic seeing as you're the one that asked about PhysX. Short term memory problems perhaps?

I asked you to stay on topic and then you posted this:-

So if you want to get snotty then I'll have to take other actions to keep you on topic I guess.

i played all three batman game. there are two types of physics aspect implemented in game. one is the basic cpu based physic that is the core component of UE3 engine which it's calculation are done on cpu. at the other one are the more advance type of physics calculation done with the aid of gpu. in the game the is option to enabled PhysX's gpu physics and as far as i know it is not enabled on AMD gpu at all. without it the game will only use the cpu based PhysX just like any other UE3 engine. so i don't think there is such an issue such "crippling AMD gpu when it can't be turned off" since it never been enabled in the first place.

and about nvidia blocking physx whenever there is amd gpu in the system i think it is just nvidia way to save them from more trouble that might happen in the future. i can think a few things but i'm not going to mention it here. also before nvidia officially blocked the hybrid setup nvidia did offer AMD to license PhysX but AMD decline the offer because back then they believe they will be able to offer open solution to gpu accelerated physics with Bullet physic engine

I think APU will benefit most from mantle, as I suspect AMD try to boost the APU/processor performance (they quite beaten up by intel there)
I also waiting to see what this can do in strategy/tactical games (games i mostly play)..
edit: also in MMO games..

OOT, It's sad to see forums on tom's these days...

To many people that do not own the device/hardware do not test or see the test them self, just read/heard from somewhere
and act like they are expert...
and it very obvious/easy to identify those people if u guys lurking long enough.........

In other hand.. more popcorn please 😀....

At some point when I'm bored I might sling the 7790 into my gaming rig and see how it fares on the Star Swarm demo.

about mantle there is only one game so far that use it so i can't say anything much about it. yes there are performance increase but so far it is limited to situation where cpu are the main bottleneck. this opening possibilities to use less powerful with more stronger gpu. people might be thinking: "with this i don't have to worry about my weak cpu anymore when i want to get stronger gpu" but they still have to think about the majority games out there that did not have mantle support. we can hope more dev or game engine to adopt mantle but reality can be cruel. just look at AMD effort on gpu bullet physics. the idea is nice to provide competition to physx (and it suppose to work on both nvidia and amd card) but ever since we heard about it in 2009 there is still no game using bullet gpu accelerated feature while game using the physic engine do exist. also i want to see how AMD able to convince developer to adopt mantle without the need any of sponsorship or any tied to gaming evolved program.

Which was a reply to your post before that and it was also you that first mentioned PhysX.

Anyway, not that your mod powers mean anything to me, but I'm going to take my leave anyway. This was nothing but a waste of time. Have fun with Mantle.

..... see how it fares on the Star Swarm demo.
oh yeah, just remember there a tech demo for this...

the bad thing is looks like it will not have much benefit for my 7870, the installation also needs to clean uninstall the previous driver & disable IGP on bios (to much work)........
I think i will just wait....

My biggest thing is that it will only be useful until Microsoft decides to add in the same feature set in DX. Once it is in DirectX, I feel Mantle will go the way of OGL because I doubt AMD will support it heavily just like OGL is hit or miss. Every few iterations of OGL put in features to compare to DX then it is left alone.

It is a wait and see game.

You mean to tell me that a beta was delayed?! I've never heard of a beta software being delayed before. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Guild-Wars-2-Beta-Delayed-mmo-game,15764.htmlhttp://www.tomshardware.com/news/Planetside-2-Beta-Delayed-game-sony,16552.htmlGood thing it was only a beta as it would be even worse if they delayed a non-beta product, right?http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Shield-AR.Drone-Delay-Tegra-4-Jason-Paul,23279.htmlhttp://www.tomsguide.com/us/Torchlight-2-Delayed-Release-Date-Tweaks-Balancing,news-15918.htmlhttp://www.tomshardware.com/news/BioShock-Infinite-Delayed-release-date,19651.htmlhttp://www.tomsguide.com/us/PC-Gaming-Wolfenstein-The-New-Order-Delay-FPS,news-17260.html:sarcastic:
He wasn't complaining about it being delayed, he was complaining because despite the delay the beta still has many issues. That makes your post irrelevant to what he was talking about, especially the full product releases delay that has nothing to do with this.

obviously we need more deep analysis on mantle but it seems that some of what mantle do like improving draw call are already part of directx 11. nvidia and amd just need to support it in their drivers and it seems nvidia already did. people were discussing about it with Oxide Star Swarm demo:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1463351/steam-star-swarm-benchmark/130

by default Star Swarm disabled Deferred Context and there is no way to turn it on. and then Oxide update the client so it can be turned on:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/267130/discussions/0/558746745812396637/

NEW - Fixed (hopefully) grey screen issue reported by some users
Removed activation requirement
Changed default duration to 360 seconds
Added DeferredContexts flag to ini files (disabled by default - use at your own risk)
Default scenario changed to 'Follow' to yield more consistent results per run
Changed 'Follow' scenario to follow a different unit to help prevent crazy spinning
Throttled frame rate on the launcher to reduce CPU overhead while it's sleeping
Added tooltip descriptions to the scenarios

for people with nvidia hardware enabling Deferred Context can increase the performance.

Now that we see a correction in CrossFireX ... AND ... a corretion in Eyefinity... the next step for you guys at TomsHardware is to test the worst combination ever at that configuration : 2, 3 and 4 Radeons HD7950 at 3840x1920 (3 full HD monitors, portrait) !!!

I wonder how Nvidia plan to respond to this...an Nvidia API would be an obvious Copy-cat sign, so they'll probably do something like "WE OVERCLOCKED OUR GPUS TO 1.5 TERRAHERTZ AND NOW THEY RUN ONE DEGREE HOTTER THAN USUAL.", that would be hilarious in all fairness.

With results like this turning up :-

I don't think there is any panicking going on over at Nvidia's HQ.

i only see amd catalyst instal manager? that it right?

That sounds about right.
