I'm hoping someone can help with this problem. The installation of AMD Catalyst is not allowing the use of the Driver or AMD Catalyst Control Center.
I've tried 3 versions of the installer:
Version: 08.00.0915 with Driver Ver.: 13-059 (Win8/7/Vista) (13.25.18) provided on CD with card
Version: 08.00.0915 with Driver Ver.: 13.12 (latest stable release on AMD website)
Version: 08.00.0916 with Driver Ver.: 14.2 Beta 1.3
Each version goes through the same process of Analyzing Configuration then installing the following components:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86)
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5
AMD Catalyst Install Manager
AMD Catalyst Control Center
The log indicates successful completion of all parts but trying to load CCC gives the following:
"AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started.
There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Catalyst Control Center."
Device Manager still shows as 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter' which allows only basic windows output from the card but will not load any recent games or play any sound
Other things I've tried...
Display Driver Uninstaller to remove all other display drivers
Updated Vista from SP1 to SP2
.NET Cleanup Tool to remove all previous .NET installations
Installed .NET 4.5 separately
Installed all recommended Windows Updates (again includes .NET 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.5, 4.5.1 etc.)
Tried directly updating driver within device manager but it says "The best driver software for your device is already installed"
...so still the same outcome with Drivers and CCC still not working.
GPU R9 290x
OS Vista
MB Asus with PCIe 2.0 using x16 slot
The only thing I've noticed is that if I go into the AMD Catalyst Setup and choose Custom install instead of Express, after Analyzing Configuration it shows that:
AMD Catalyst Install Manager & AMD Catalyst Control Center are "installed and up to date",
but
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) and
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.5 Redistributable Package
as "Current Version not Installed" even though they are installed and present.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
