AMD Compares Llano and Sandy Bridge in Video

Did.. Did I just watch Intel get owned in the mobile department?
Oh boy! let the war commence!

Until.. the desktop parts are available, then we'll proceed with the desktop war.

well done AMD. The processor might not be as powerful but the intergrated graphics are much better than sandy bridge. quite a good effort for a upper market mobile cpu.

lets just hopes bulldozer can follow suit

[citation][nom]bombat1994[/nom]well done AMD. The processor might not be as powerful[/citation]

I should probably point this out, AMD's CPU in this video is just a Pheonom II with AMD's GPU on the same die.

That's why if you had a Phenom with the same clocks and cores as this, they would both perform almost exactly the same in a CPU workload.

Pointless, AMD need to have product in market already, they are running late and need to execute!

[citation][nom]chronium[/nom]Umm did they just compare a Intel mobile CPU to a AMD desktop CPU?[/citation]

Believe they're both mobile CPUs.

It basically shows AMD beating Intel in the graphics department, this time via APU. This, of course, is nothing new for AMD/ATi and sort of expected. Great for laptops as it means you don't need a discrete GPU in a lappy anymore to achieve decent framerates... unless it's a gaming laptop or desktop 😛

So we are comparing an AMD CPU with a built in graphics co-processor with an Intel CPU w/o a graphic co-processor. Thats like comparing a 1970 gremlin and a 2005 viper on a 1/4 mile track because they are both cars. Silly comparison with obvious results.

while the demo is nice, there's no details about both configurations to judge if what we are watching is actualy real world or just marketing.

@alan0n
It does show the need of having integrated graphics where laptops could easily benefit from them while not suffering alongside power and performance. Intel has had integrated graphics for a while, but they hardly improve overall and it's not the best experiance. This tries to show you that the APU allows you to play games, render, stream videos, and more then what the intel graphics normally give while trying to be cost effective.

Intel always had crappy graphics GPU`s . Someone should sue them for making those shitty HD 3000 bla bla graphics that cant even play a decent bluray video.

this is not a fair test...intel HD 3000 is a crappy video card, AMD HD 6620 is a whole different video card....so how is this fair? try again

That is impressive AMD, both are mobile quad cores, If this comparison is true clearly AMD has the upperhand with bulldozer. Uses less power than sandy bridge but it runs certainly smoother then sandy bridge according to the video.

Geez...

This is NOT a Pheonom. It says in plain english: "AMD Fusion Llano" CPU, in a 14" notebook chassis vs. a Sandy bridge with same setup (as possible).

This comparison is between TWO Quad Core Mobile CPUs with their respective built-in GPUs. Both of these CPUs include GPUs. Both include the latest drivers.

* But with this demo being supplied by AMD, there is the possibility of a badly running intel system vs a optimized AMD system.

Odd note, this Quadcore intel CPU doesn't include: Intel VT-d and AES-NI

If this is a FAIR demo... that AMD is kicking some serious intel tail. Bravo!

I want this!

(I'm typing this on my intel Quadcore destop - I own an intel powered ThinkPad as well as an AMD desktop)

You are VASTLY incorrect. None of those that you describe is a "video card". Both CPUs have built-in GPUs. As long as both systems are setup properly... intel just got kicked in the nuts.

AMD Fusion has been in the works for about 4 years. Intel has always sucked in graphics, even thou they are FAR better today than previous.
