AMD FX-8150 VS Intel i7??

im planing on Buying a AMD FX8150. but what in Intels defence does they have?. is it the i7 3770k or 2600k, 2700k i dont know :/ what does AMD FX-8150 compare to ?, and is it good

The FX-8150 doesn't really compare to anything on the Intel side, this is because the majority or processors for the same price or less outperform it.


It isn't even comparable to the i7 lineup, but more towards the i5 line.

I'm Planing on Gaiming, and Video Editing
Gaiming: the New Guild wars 2, and TF2, Amnesia, WoW, And Dirt 3, with fraps running by the side
Editing: edit my gameplay with costum made intros, Multiple Effect, and stuff like that, In HD of course. ( 2 -12 min long)

You would be better off with the I7. It can do good in both heavily threaded programs like video editing recording, and AutoCAD and lightly threaded programs like gaming.

i5-2500K and an nvidia graphics card.

Those editing softwares can make use of CUDA!

i7 and an NVidia GPU make even tastier use to editing and such.

The i5-3450. Most games don't care a whole lot about the CPU, so the inherrent weakness of the 8150 isnt that prevalent, but in the few exceptions (cpu intensive games) the benches are pretty brutal.

And yes it does have lower clock per clock performance, although that in itself is kind of beside the point. I never considered clock vs clock benchmarks to be that useful, CPUs run at what they need to run at, period. As long as you understand that a higher clock speed doesn't necessarily mean the CPU is a better product.

And if it is, is it even noticeable?

Depends on your expectations and what you're doing. Since you mentioned you intend to be running fraps while gaming, you should probably be looking at the i5. Its going to give higher FPS rates, how much are necessary and how many are necessary to be considered "smooth gameplay" is in the eye of the beholder.

As far as the i7 and hyperthreading, yes that will help out with your video editing stuff, but not so much for games. Honestly the i5 is good enough to video edit with. (Thats the difference between i5s and i7s)

The FX series has worse per clock performance than the intel core ix series. The FX-8150 would probably do a little worse than the core i5-3450 if the FX one was not overclocked at all.

If you are really going to be doing video editing, I would opt for a core-i7 2600k or 2700k or 3770k. If you are not going to ever try to overclock, get the model that does not have a "k" at the end. Also remember to get the correct motherboard for your cpu.

If you are doing video editing, get an nvidia GPU.

That is, if the editing software supports CUDA.
