I have these 2 ones in my sig along with two older ones, an Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3ghz dual core, which actually still beats the requirements for most games, and a core 2 quad q9300 2.5ghz quad. Athlon has a 512mb gddr5 hd 5670 and the q9300 has a 1gb ddr3 hd 8570 (has Mantle support 0_o ) . Both have 4gb ddr2, athlon mobo is maxed out while the q9300 can hold up to 8gb ram.

People tend to underestimate older hardware. May end up selling this Phenom x6....pieced it together for the gf to play stuff like Day Z or Arma 3 Breaking Point mod (better than Day Z imo..) but she ended up telling me later she'd rather just play xbox. Guess I could keep the Athlon x2 6000+ dusted off if she ever wanted to play something....I've looked up gameplay...

with all that said, I think the OP would be better off with a GPU upgrade or ram upgrade. Going to a very power hungry 8 core cpu isn't the answer. For the price of the i5 you could even get a Xeon 1230 v3,etc. I don't think the 1231 Xeon is worth the ~40 buck increase for like a 100mhz clock boost over the regular haswell Xeon.

on a side note, wow I'm surprised those games with the athlon and 5670 ran so well on only 2gb ram the guy listed in his description, he must literally have nothing else running on the pc besides the game >_>
