Amd fx 8350 info

hello iam new here and hope someone can give me some information

i am thinking about getting a amd fx 8350 and noticed that is has a memory controller Dual channel DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600MHz

so what ram speeds would i need for a standard setup no overclocking should i just get the 1600 mhz and also what would happen if i bought 2 x dual channel 1600 mhz ram would the speed under clock and would this be normal

why would it underclock? 1600 would be fine in dual channel.

The motherboard i have choosing can take the 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2133(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz

i wanted to know if i put 2 x 1866 mhz ddr3 ram in would they get underclocked with the cpu having a Memory Controller and supporting Dual channel DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600MHz

so should i just go for the 1600mhz or higher or does it not matter

well 1866 is dirt cheap might as well

FX-8350 memory controller is 1866MHz not 1600MHz. If you are running 1866MHz RAM and have the settings in the BIOS correctly the RAM will run at 1866MHz and it will not be overclocked.

I am running some RipjawX series 2133mhz rams at full speed on a Asrock 990FX Extreme4 motherboard before overclocking.
I have my FX-6300 OCed to 4.8Ghz with just using the multiplier so I haven't pushed the base clock yet to see what I can get out of the ram.

For the little price difference it is it pays to go with the 2133mhz ram's.
Especially if your motherboard doesn't have a 2133mhz setting for the ram and your planning on overclocking as this will allow to a much greater headroom for over clocking should you find it necessary to raise the base clock than will a set of 1866 ram's.
