AMD FX cpu in an AM3 mb - will it work?

Hi
Planning on a new (six core) cpu in my ASRock 870 Extreme3 mobo. Will an FX (AM3+ cpu) work in my AM3 mobo?

Based on that list you're good to go!

Nope - it's the R2.0 version of the board. It's at 'true' AM3+ mobo. Mine is the 870 Extreme3:

With no FX cpus, but I don't trust it. I don't think its being kept up to date...

Sadly if you're not using the rev2.0 board you're out of luck. The rev1.0 (if I can call it that) doesn't support the FX CPUs.

FX series CPU's WILL NOT work on an AM3 board, simple as that. AM3+ is required for FX series CPU's

That isn't strictly correct. AM3 and AM3+ sockets are pin compatible. Both Asus and ASRock have announced support for Bulldozer CPUs on selected AM3 socket motherboards via a BIOS update. I am personally running an Asus M4A89TD Pro/USB3 AM3 motherboard with an AMD FX 8150 AM3+ CPU.
