AMD-FX8350 Overclock configuration

I am inquiring to see if I am doing something wrong in my overclock setup. The temp of the CPU gets different reads depending on the monitoring software.

I see 64-65c @100% w/ Asus thermal radar
64-65% @100% w/ Speedfan
52-54c @100% w/Corsair Link

OC Settings:
1.400v
230 bridge bus

Please provide feedback to the config I have running (hardware specs included).

Asus and Speedfan are showing socket temperature, which has a 70 C maximum recommended temperature. Corsair Link is probably showing core temperature, which has a 61 C maximum temperature. You are safe and have a little bit more room to OC, but don't go much higher.

There's 3 different sensors you're looking at. Each software reads at least one of them.
I shan't go in to too much detail since I've already made a long-winded post on this before, but the basics are:

SpeedFan = Socket temp. A sensor underneath the CPU, usually gets about 10c higher than die temp under full load. The BIOS reads this too, but keep in mind things are clocked at their max frequency in the BIOS, it's when you boot to the OS that the energy saving stuff kicks in. Therefore things are going to be ever so slightly higher there.

Asus Thermal Radar isn't one I've used before, but it sounds like it's using the socket temp too.

Corsair Link uses a sensor presumably in the block itself. It's used to measure liquid temperature. It's also about 5-10c colder than die temp most of the time from what I've noticed.

Use HWMonitor, CoreTemp or AMD OverDrive to measure the actual die temp. AMD uses a calculation so it's not that accurate when idle. 62c is the rated max for the FX line, and that's core/die temp.

Also your setup is more than fine. Same board *brofist*.
What cooler though?

That's kind of what I was thinking too after reading a few forum threads. Thanks for the info - to double check, do you think the Corsair H80i is adequate? I have 2 radiator fans and 3 case fans with 4 more case fans on the way - Using a corsair Vengeance C70 case (lots of air flow).

That is a great setup, and the H80i is more than enough.

Another question, when using prime95 - I see my CPU temp get to 60c before I stop it due to nervousness. It doesn't seem to take too long to get it to this temp. Is it a normal occurrence due to the purpose of the software or is there something I should change in my OC settings to ensure it doesn't quickly rise to this temp?

It shouldn't take long. That is an OK temp for the socket. If it is the core temp, then I would back off a little bit.
