News AMD Navy Flounder Graphics Card May Be Navi 22 In Disguise

Flounder is a really bad code name. It doesn't inspire confidence in your latest and greatest product. Yes it is Navy Flounder. Still flounder is a part of it. While it is an internal codename. They know stuff like that will leak out. I can just picture all the puns about it floundering if it doesn't outperform nvidia cards, has some factory recall, driver issues, poor sales or really anything bad about it in the press.

VERB
flounder (verb) · flounders (third person present) · floundered (past tense) · floundered (past participle) · floundering (present participle)

  1. struggle or stagger helplessly or clumsily in water or mud.

It could just be an inside joke that stuck.

Code names can also be used to mislead people about what the project is actually about.

An example would be the Tube Alloys Project of the 2nd World War.

On the other hand it could be foreshadowing

Comet Lake sounded like a disaster waiting to happen.

And with Intel still on 14nm++++, it came true.
