Hey, I have an AMD Opteron 1381 2.5Ghz socket AM3 CPU in my inventory. I don't have a motherboard for it and I don't want to break the bank for an expensive server motherboard. I was wondering if there was a standard desktop motherboard that would use it? I don't care about ECC support, I just want to use it because I feel like it is such a waste keeping it in the closet.

Thanks

Don't know if you did your research, but I don't see a reply. The 3 chip series Suzuka's are am3 chips with am2+ backwards compatibility. They are phenom II Denebs, highly stable. Mine is in a MSI 870-G45 running at a simple 3.5ghz. I have 8g ddr3 team dark series pc1600 ram and a sapphire hd5770 vaporX 1g ddr5, paid $30 for the mobo, $51 for the chip, $39 for the ram and $66 for the vid card, all new. CPUID reads the chip as a Phenom II x4 981. check this clock speed 5762.9 on that chipset
