Great to see you again saint19...

This is one of the biggest amd threads around lol

I have an 8150 I haven't tried ocing yet... Should try that out soon 😉

is this an athlon/phenom only thread?

Hi saint19 , and every one..

I wish to give me some from your experiencing in overclocking this system, however i Oc`d it once before reaching @4Cores to 3.7GHz stable with good Temp...

but with some problem in RESTART my system which in fact always forcing me to restart it manually because it`s not restarting properly.

So i wish to help me ( if you have time ) and suggesting the right steps i should do to reach @ 4.0GHz or above easily

and this my specifications
CPU : AMD PHENOME 11X2 560 3.3GHz BE
Cool : Hyper 212
MoBo : MSI 970A-G45
MEM : 2x2 DDR3 1600MHz crosair
PSU : Seasonic 620 WAT

sorry for any language mistakes , and thanks in advance for any one try to help .

Using an overclocking program can actually hinder the stability of an overclock. It also adds one more thing to have to check once you find that your unstable. Example: the program can cause the error and instead of being voltage, FSB, or to high a clock. Now you have to figure out weather or not it is the program.

I have found that I can get a better more stable over clock through the bios than using a program. The same settings that are unstable in a program could be stable if set in the bios.

My way of starting out is seeing how high I can get my ram to go. This way I know how far I can push my FSB. Once I have this number I underclock the ram and start raising the fsb by 5. I do this till it wont boot then I back it down 5 then start stability testing. If still unstable depending on voltage settings I may increase voltage or start backing the FSB down by 1 till it becomes stable.

Every motherboard and CPU will overclock differently so someone right next to you with the same exact equipment could get better or a worse overclock at the same settings.

Hope some of this helps. It's just a start but it will give you a starting point to go from. Don't expect this to be a quick one day project. Overclocking and stability testing can take weeks or months to get the max out of the system. I personally have been trying to get to 4.2 for over a year off and on but to no avail.

thank you king smp & bgunner for your replying..

Actually i have been tried before to overclock by bios till i reached to 3.7GHz easily with stability ... but since then i couldn`t restart my system by start screen.

But all i ask about can i find any specific settings or some guide for overclocking my system
( MSI 970A-G45 + PHENOM IIX 2 560 3.3GHz )

... or i should go with it step by step like you said

thanks for your supporting guys.

Yup, if you run through the AMD black edition overclocking guide up top, it should see you well on the way to some nice numbers, and more importantly, give you the knowledge to get the best from your rig,
there are no set numbers for anything, every component behaves slightly differently from the next one off the line, thats where the skill of tweaking hits :)

Finally updated my system a little while ago....sorry this thread is old I know. Just wanted to share my updated specs. H-100 Corsair water cooler(vs the old TT V2 copper cooler)( allows me to run prime95 finally) and 16 GB Avexir DDR3 2000 ram. Still hitting 4.2 but actually stable now. Sometimes I downclock to 3.9 for heat reasons. The cpu is fine but my room tends to heat up quickly lol.

Hey Guys,

Right, straight off the bat let me thank you for reading this and trying to help. I have never overclocked before and I know nothing on the subject. I will be learning through tonight and the weekend.

I'm looking to overclock because my system is really weak.

So, here's the deal. My system specs are as follows:
AMD Athlon II X3 425 2700Mhz Triple Core with Quad Core architecture.
Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2H Motherboard.
GeForce GTX 550Ti 1Gb Professionally Overclocked.
2 x 2GB DDR2 1066Mhz

I would like to alter the overclocking of my graphics card at some point, but I'm focusing on my processor right now.

A big thanks again for any help that can be given, and have a great day.

Ffirst check is can you unlock the chip to a stable quad?
an extra working core is often better than a modest oc of the other three performancewise,
and your next stop is the black edition overclocking guide sticky at the top of the section, give that a good read through and tick your checklist to see if you are ready to start clocking :)

When I bought it I was told that it is triple core with quad core architecture...
How would I go about checking that?
Sorry, I know how annoying it is to hear something so simple asked, when it comes to Motherboards, Processors and anything to do with overclocking, you may as well be speaking Klingon... Backwards... From a mile away... In a thunderstorm... In a battlefield... You get the idea lol.

I'll give that a read over tonight then, thanks for the advice.

Finally I decided to join the party with my Dell Inspiron 570, ocmusicjunkie was first here and first with overclock of the same PC. I decided to overclock on low voltage to prolong life of my PC, I can increase Vcore and get higher results, but again, I want longer survival life.
A little bit of my story. I was the first to document (maybe the first in Universe, who knows) placing Phenom II X4 965 BE into Dell Inspiron 570 (officially the highest supported CPU is Phenom II x4 945), documented here http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/p/19433829/20045137.aspx#20045137
Over the time I was able to convince at least 15-20 Dell users to switch same way, and now I am here.
Before proceeding to numbers I would like to share Inspiron 570 Ultimate Upgrade Guide I created (trying to finish for the past few weeks) and posted at Dell Community Forum, and surprisingly it was made a sticky there for now. Here it is http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19490818.aspx

Now the numbers.

Of the programs you suggested is any one better than the other for the purpose of these tests? Sorry never done one but as I am interested in this and currently have had mine overclocked for a little bit just curious😛. I will post results as soon as I download one of these programs and run it

I mainly use Prime95 and Intel Burn test for stress testing
just google them
also Furmark is great for stress testing a video card
I like to run Prime95 while also running Furmark
does a nice of job of really stressing the whole system

also the Folding at Home project is great for really stressing a system while at the same time helping medical science
since I fold my systems need to be rock solid stable
I have a I5-2400 Xeon and 460 that are at 100 percent 24/7
literally has been on for weeks upon weeks running at 100 percent with no stopping
I also downclock my GPU for folding to increase stability

Hey, Saints. These are My Current settings :
CPU AMD-6200 Six-Core Processor
Motherboard: AsRock 990FX Extreme9
Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (4x4GB)
I have been trying to OC but cant make it stable more than 4.4GhZ. here is my info on settings:
CPU: AMD FX-6200
Core Voltage(VID) 1.4500v
NB VID: 1.2750v
Stepping:B2
Core speed: 4407 MHz
Bus Speed:215 MHZ
Core Multiplier: 20.5x
Memory: 1720 MHz (with 1.500 Voltage)

So my question is, how do i set the setting for highest possible speed ?
I want to Reach atleast over 4.6GhZ.

If u have any other question about my setting og something i dont have mensiond, feel free to either say it here or mail me, og skype me, i would really appriciate ur help. Email: Arbenprebreza@gmail.com Skype: arben.prebreza.

SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH 😀

first please remove your email and skype info
not a good idea to post it on here

and lower your memory speed
just set it to stock settings for your ram (if it is 1600 then set it at 1600)
memory OC causes CPU instability

sorry about that.
my memory speed is 1866, so i have lower it down a little

King Bling!!

I'm loaded up on AMD hardware, lol. I got two AM2+ boards, your 5800+, a 4200+, 1055T, and 720BE.

Get ready for some NASTY 3.6GHz OCs!!! :pt1cable:

That's not any indicator of stability. You need test it more, around 2 hours for know if can be stable or not.
