I just upgraded to an AMD phenom ii x4 960t

I am having some trouble. Performace is down
I upgraded from a dual core 2.8 ghz



this is cpu id

i was getting 50-60 fps on most games with medium or high graphics settings.

The cpuid report says the model is unkown and the speed is 800 mhz. I am assuming this means 800 x 4 equals the correct ghz but i am feeling out of my league here.
even opening a broser and going to the next page is laggy.

nope, its 200x4=800mhz, when full load is thrown on the cpu, this ratio goes to 200x15=3000mhz, disable cool n quiet from the bios and multiplier will go straight to 15.

I tried disabling cool and quiet but i was still having problems. I took it back and the store warrantied it for me. I am now running great.

The second link was before the warrantied motherboard.
In CPU psn it says processor model unknown. No matter what i did i could not get that to change.

I am however wondering if i need to go over 8gigs of ram. I dont seem to jump over 60% usage ever but when I had 4 gigs I was only using 70%. It seems to me that the percent used should have been halved. Is it the same as a processer? The more i have the more that will be utilized at any given time?

I am also wondering if it would be worth it in your opinions to go for a second Nvidia GTX560 or wait and go with something bigger later?

With the price of RAM being pretty low if your OS is 64 bit then nows a good time to cram the extra in if you want to.

In my opinion don't get a 2nd 560 as long as its doing the job ok for you now, wait for the 600's to release and look in to a new single card then. If all the hype is true they could well be worth the wait.

If you want a boost for free. Have you tried unlocking the cores on that CPU? If they are stable you may get a nice 6 core . It'll then show in CPU-Z as a AMD Phenom II X6 1605T. Mine does and is stable and so do many others who bought 960T's. Also if you have a decent cooler you can OC that CPU nicely. I have 3.89 GHZ on 6 cores right now but theres others have hit 4.0GHZ.

I put this system together acouple months ago an am SUPER surprised!
GA-970A-UD3 with 960t w/Hyper 212 -A.S.5 thermal
8gb Hyper X 2x4 and 120gb Crucial M4
NZXT case Corsair TX750
MSI HD 6850 Cyclone PE
All for 400 bucks or so at Micro Center(already had gpu)

Now for the good stuff--- Turn off all the thermal control junk and disable turbo in bios
Then increase volts by 3 levels on NB and HT link.
Then set RAM EOCP to 1866(the board then auto tunes bsclk etc.
Go back to Volts and set RAM to 1.65 and CPU to =.10
Your cpu multiplier will need to be at 17.5x then to get to 4ghz--the RAM will be 1866Mhz or very close. My temps are amazing--108F ater 3 hours Prime Blend--RAM slots show load temps in the 40's C NB in the low 50's. GPU 45 idle 80 load. I am amazed I could have such an aggressive OC on such a inexpensive set up. So much fun too. Peace out.---btw--was not able to unlock cores
