Hey guys.

Could someone please look at the following components, and tell me if everything I selected is okay.

Chassis - AEROCOOL SYCLONE II
Motherboard - ASUS M4A785-M
CPU - AMD Phenom™ II X4 970
3.5GHz Black Edition
HDD - 500GB SATA
Memory - Kingston 4.0GB DDR3 1333MHZ

I wont be buying a graphics accelerator at this stage. This PC will mainly be used for Engineering purposes: Solidworks, SimXpert, Matlab etc.

Please advise???

Gerhard87,

You might want to rethink your motherboard and get a different one (or change RAM)...the one you have chosen only supports DDR2 and you have DDR3 listed...I would also try to buy faster RAM at least DDR3 1600 if not 1866, 2000, or 2166 (kinda cheap right now). Also pay attention to the CAS Latency...the lower the latency the better (9-9-9-24 pretty much standard for DDR3 & 6-6-6-18 for DDR2)...try to get a HDD with the biggest cache possible...ie 32MB or 64MB cache....storage size is up to what you need and can afford...I recommend WD Black Editions if you can't afford a solid state drive...you could always spend a little less on CPU but still get a Quad core....Everything else sound fine...

Hope this helps! Good luck and enjoy the build!!
