I am ready to buy components to build my pc , but first i have a question , would this cpu benefit my gaming performance. or is their cpu better for gaming within the same price range? Mostly using pc for gaming and surfing the web.
thanks also any recommendations in motherboards? 320$ just for motherboard and cpu i have left over

Just my suggestion.

1- Change the CPU for the X4 955 and rise the multiplier one step, in that way you get the X4 965.
2- RAM 1600MHz would be useful if you overclock the NB or have plans to overclock it, if that's not the situation, go with 1333MHz and save some money. If you still want 1600 RAM, go with Corsair vengeance
3- Jump that 5770 to something better if you want a good gaming experience, 6850 or above is the way

hehe, nox isn't the op, just adding input, OP is already considering everying you stated :)

For the 4-5$ difference get the 1600 g skill , not that it will make a big dif , but if you are going to O C it might be a bit better . I have used G-skill for the past 5 years , have been very pleased , no bad sticks , good support forum and takes a good OC . The 1600 should OC better than the 1333 , but you never know , you can get a super spec stick of 1333 . It's all the same ,

Yep, just giving an example of how cheap/inexpensive doesn't always mean poor performance. 😉

According to the specs you are right. My x2 555 seems to have the same specs.

I am surprised and wondering, how the bios and apps (CPUZ) I use shows it runs at 1600mhz? I don't understand that behavior. Is it because they report only my wish :??: ?

Is there any applications that can show my real memory speed?

Thanks

That RAM can run at 1600MHz if you overclock your CPU and rise the NB frequency. My RAM is running at 1600MHz with CPU @ 3.8GHz and NB @ 3000MHz.

Ok thanks, I will try that. I overclocked my CPU with the multiplier only . Could it explain why I could run the memory at 1600MHZ? But I don't remember to increase the NB?

I will take a look again at CPUZ and post back here a snapshot.
