I own a hd 7770 from sapphire which i bought for $180 (this is what it costs in my country), and I have got an offer to sell it for $120 after 7 months of use. I can buy the R9 280x in december as it will cost around $500 in my country. The person who wants to buy it needs it now so i am deciding whether to sell this 7770 now and play for 1 month on the iGPU of my cpu, or wait for the next gen of cards which comes in the end of 2014 and spend the $500 then.

The thing is that the cards which come next year would have released after the next gen consoles hanging around for more than 1 year. Which means that those cards would be more tuned for next gen games, would last much longer, things like higher gpu memory to compete with the 8 gigs in the next gen consoles.

What should i do, i dont think that $120 offer is really that great and i am getting great fps in games i am currently playing like bf3 (60 fps at 1920x1080 medium to high settings), this card (hd 7770) also overclocks very well....

Any help would be appreciated, also this card would be able to use the new mantle api which would exist in bf4 which i am going to play a lot.

Well, if you have the money to spend, I would buy the R9 280x. For starters, you're chopping $120 off the price (after the sale), which you might not be able to do next year. Second, it's silly to want to wait for next year's model when this year's model hasn't even come out yet because you're expecting it to be better. Well, 2015 will be better than 2014 but does that mean you might as well wait another year when the time comes? Such a powerful GPU should support games for at least a couple years so you really have nothing to worry about and until games are announced and released that justify whatever AMD and NVIDIA do for 2014, it's pointless to upgrade so much.

The thing is that the games i want to play, are very playable at my moniter's res ie 1920x1080 at medium to high settings. I can wait for next year very comfortably and i can sell my 7770 for say $60 next year. Possibly i can extend my budget from $500 to $600 next year.

It sounds to me like you've already come to a decision and asked here in hopes of agreement, though everyone seems to come to the opposite conclusion. Do what will make you happier. Better that than regret later.

R9 280x is 7970 ghz edition indeed, so they are exactly the same, get rid of that 7770, cause luck doesnt knock at your door twice, add up some money to it and buy 7970 ghz edition today!!! you have my words even google it 7970 ghz is exactly r9 280x for battlefield 4 you need at least 7970 the alpha version shows that with 7970 you can play the game maxed out with 27-28 fps, so if that's the case with your 7770 you can wait for a miracle to play this game with medium settings

Personally, if I could get $120 for a used 7770 even in your country, I'd sell it & get the new
technology and better performance, if I could afford to do so.

Oh, you set this up as a poll, not a question. So, the 'best solution' doesn't apply.
