I noticed improvement on the mobile graphics side of things. I gave up on discreet graphics a long time ago. Here is a question for the experts, if your pcie buss is limited to 100mhz isn't your wire frame update speed also limited to 100mhz? So theoretically your card can never really be updated any faster than the bus speed it is parked on right?

First off i must say that this argument is a fanboy discussion. I myself own a system based on i7 3770k and sapphire reference hd 7970. I have only had the driver issue when i first installed the base driver which came with a CD inside the box. However the first driver update i have done solved my problem. It was the driver crashing issue not a big deal at all. I didn`t even know they had that already solved. After all, they did the latest update mostly for crysis 3 since it fell under 25 fps with max graphic details everything maxed. I did the update and this was some how resolved. It is absolutely playable.
Secondary. I agree that Nvidia has better drivers because of gtx 680 is a less powerful card but with its driver it can catch up 7970`s performance. I am talking about the gpu`s specification as in transistor count, memory bandwidth and vram amount. But after all 7970 is a cheaper card. It gives more performance than gtx 680 for the most games. It has better specification. This leads me buying a 7970 instead of a 2gb 256bit gtx 680 for futurewise. I have another system based on a i7 950 and nvidia gtx 580 on it. In 2011 nvidia was better. But 2012 amd was a better option instead of nvidia gtx. 2013? we`ll see about that.

So you know both sides too. Yeah the hardware specs for the 7970 are spectacular. The drivers are what I've always found to be an irritant when dealing with AMD cards.

Driver issues are even more apparent with crossfire. Based on my experience, it doesn't seem AMD is too concerned with their market-minority crossfire customers.

You must be running at resolutions beyond 5760x1080 since your VRAM requirement is so large?

How far into the future do you really think any of today's cards are going to take us? If we're not getting the latest gen of video cards every one and a half to two years, we're not too concerned with having the best gaming performance.
